Hi! Sorry if this is in the wrong forum...

When uploading my image onto the site, it looks quite different from what I am seeing in my Photoshop. It seems to have more contrast, or perhaps saturation. It looks like my mids are getting swallowed.

I saved as PNG before uploading as per the suggestion, and was woking in sRGB and had my proof colors on, but it still looks different.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Kevin

I think that the difference that you see is due to the particular resizing method that we use. The largest size on flicker is 1024x683, which I assume was the size that you uploaded there. On the other hand, you uploaded a much larger version here, so our version that is the same size as the flicker version was resized.

If you can, please upload the exact same file at both locations. Then we should be able to tell what is going on.

I think it has to do with uploading it as a png file.

If you compare these two: http://www.flickr.com/photos/keff_eine/4695050216/sizes/l/

http://www.flickr.com/photos/keff_eine/4704443038/sizes/l/

They're both from the same high res image, I just reduced their size in Photoshop before I saved.

I'll try uploading a jpeg to Caedes.

EDIT: The one without my name is a png, the one with my name is jpeg.

These are both JPEG, and they seem to match (though maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, cause sometimes I feel like the Caedes one is still a bit darker, haha):

I'll have to do some experiments to know for sure...

Hmm, actually my most recent upload (http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Caedes::Infopage&image=keff_eine-1276738987.jpg) seems to have lost some sharpness and has the saturation problem. I don't have a comparison image at the same resolution right now, but I guess the .jpeg still gets distorted when it is compressed.

Now, looking again at the links in my prior post, the Caedes one still seems more saturated (or just darker? Don't really know exactly) when put next to the flickr one of similar size.

Oi!

Do you know what color space you are saving them as? For web it is best to convert them to sRGB before uploading. This could be the solution to your problem.

No one wanted to pay to say something in my sig, so i will have to try and think of something creative now...

Yes, they're in sRGB, and I proof the color while I work so that I can see how it'll look online.
