Currently on the Control Panel page, there is a column for the RCI. Since this measurement is no longer in use, may I suggest that the space it is occupying be converted to an Art Council (AC) tracking column. My thought is that a * be placed in the column to indicate that your post has been selected for review by the Art Council.
Another thought would be to show the number of positive votes your picture has received, much like what the “Favs” column is now recording. I believe either of these two directions would add another layer of interest to the community on the Control Panel page.
As Sam indicated in a recent comment on the Art Council thread, that could potentially lead to a wave of "Why wasn't my image chosen?" queries for the mods to field. I think that being informed that an image has gained perm status is probably enough. When it starts getting quantified is when fur would likely get ruffled and, from what I've seen lately, we've gotten our fill of ruffled fur.
You can already tell if a shot has been selected for Art Council review by the fact that the Art Council button is no longer available on the screen with the thumbnail shot. I agree with Nik about ruffling fur or feathers and the inevitable "Why Not?" questions.
Why do we have a control panel page then? You can see all of the information elsewhere too. But since all the information about your photo is summarized on the control panel, why not this piece of information too. The world does not see my control page, just me. I see the CI score there, you think that doesn't ruffle the feathers? But I am able, as an adult, to see both positive and negative information without committing harm to me or anyone else. I think everything summarized on the control panel page is there for my convenience so why not the AC too?
If that is where this thread should should have been then allow me to extend my apologies for putting it into the wrong place. There were other suggestions concerning the site in this area which lead me to believe I was following the correct protocol.
