C-index trouble..

The other week I managed to have one of my works as a top new image, which was a first for me, so was very pleasing. The image was ranked as one of my best, before going into the top images, but is now ranked as one of my lowest. (It dropped from around 85 to 68). I think this is due to the high number of views compared to downloads recieved as a result of being a top new image.
Has anyone else had such problems? Is this a common occurance? Usually I find the c-index to be a fair reflection of the standard of work but on this occasion it doesn't quite fit.

Hey Benroy! Listen to this !
Ceades wroteto me:
Your image seem to have a low c-index mainly because many caedes members vote low on your images. Maybe it has something to do with your abrasive attitude?

Ok maybe they are right about the first part...maybe!!
But the second one is pure crap indeed!!!
I recieved great comments on some other web sites about my work!!!
I recieved exelent comments on this web site from ppl who like my images!!!
I posted all the best to every image i liked!
And they are talking about someones (mine) abrasive attitude????LoL

the C-Index is not competent, authoritative for judging someones work coz one person in 10/15 ppl give his VOTE!!
Most ppl come here to dowload image only, and many don't care about Voting...

But i'm not sure if CEADES realize how abrasive way of conducting this web site they have!!.... too bad for them!
They don't realize that this web site exist because of the Artists, not because of them!!

ANYWAYS!!THEY DON'T LISTEN!! I'm positive about that!!

Don't worry, I think we can now all see from your posts on this discussion board what kind of attitude you really have.

HelloBlack may have a point.......i made a computer abstract desktop that i thought was quite funny.....It was a castle with a 57 chevy parked in the drive, clothes hanging out on a line and "rock and roll" painted on the front wall of the castle.....the mod rejected my desktop and implied nasitly that i had used a copyrighted pic.......when i informed him that it was not copyrighted but made with software, he then told me the reason the desktop was rejected was because of poor resoulution.........what a flip flop...and being Barney Fifeish

Hey Benroy, read this. It should answer your question:

[complain] Re: small change
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
its not slaughtered cause of voting. We've had a discussion about this and concluded that its slaughtered because of view/download ratio. Normally you would be able to see a thumbnail of an image and decide whether u want to see the preview, then decide if you want to download the full size. With top new images you only get to see the title of the image. So people click on the image even if its not their flavor because they have no idea what to expect. This leads to alot more people who open the preview and dont view the full size. This could be prevented by showing thumbnails of all of the top new images on the front page (smaller than the featured image thumb tho) that way people can decide ahead of time whether the image is worth clicking on to begin with. That idea was presented in several layouts for the new site and will probably be implemented in the next caedes version.
*catches breath*

Does that help explain (but not solve) the problem? It does suck, though that you finally get one in the "top new images" and as a result it gets deleted?

Thanks Regmar, knew it was the download to view ratio that caused it. Glad to see the solution I was thinking of will probably be used in the next version. Thanks for the help.

Cheers............
