I am thinking about buying the new sony a390 but it seems that it is so new that there are very few good reviews on it. Has anyone used this or has any comments on this camera?

None of the ideas expressed above are actually mine. They are told to me by Luthor and Ferdinand, the five inch tall space aliens who live under my desk. In return for these ideas, I have given them permission to eat any dust bunnies they may find under there.

Hey, look what I found ;-)

I'd scroll down in the drop down menu, and read the conclusion thoroughly. Dpreview.com doesn't seem to think the a390 is where you'd be best suited to plunk down your hard earned cash.

Hi Jen - you were right to ask for comments on this camera. First of all you need to wonder why are there so few good reviews about this camera? I did my homework, and discovered the reason. In a world that is supposed to function in a logical format, Sony thinks it can stand out by disregarding common sense. If you come out with new and improved electronics, glass, or intelligent programing for capturing an image, you could call it a new model, that way one would think you have made significant improvements. If you just leave everything alone and slightly change the camera body only, shouldnt you just call that an update. I reviewed models from the 290 to the 390, the only improvement is in the grip. Thats it! no wonder there are no great reviews. Not much has changed. Not much to write about, not much to get excited over. In plain English, this means that if you were to purchase the cheaper A290 you would have (technically) the same camera as the higher priced A390. In my opinion, if you want to waste your hard earned money, please send me a case of beer, then watch me drink it. After consuming the whole case of Beer, you can roll your eyes in disgust as I call myself a new and improved model. What would be the difference If you were to purchase the Sony A390 camera, it will not belch in your face, but it will call itself new and improved model. If you like the Sony brand, please wait for a genuine New Model.
