I saw a thread like this once a few years back and it was quite good fun - basically just post something - anything really - that is held in wide regard globally for no other obvious reason than it is fashionable to do so. I think I'll start with this one:

#1 Gone With The Wind (MGM 1939) - Often described as 'An American Masterpiece' & 'The greatest film ever made', this movie stands as a monument to everything that was wrong with movies and the studio system of that era. Even for it's day the acting was hideously stilted and melodramatic, it's about an hour too long and relies too heavily on over the top set pieces and gaudy Technicolor backdrops. If it were made today it would probably be directed by Roland Emmerich or Jerry Bruckheimer, cost a fortune to produce and end up on the fast track to the DVD bargain bucket. Stick a fork in me and call me a philistine but there you have it – the greatest turkey pretending to be a swan of all time.

Okay, I'll just agree on your melodramatic statement and book on off these boards. ;)

I do my thing and you do yours. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you and I am I...

I liked the movie, but it was definitely tooooo dramatic and sad>did not like the ending>

The other movie that is stupid and way too dramatic sort is the batman movie made in the earlier years>don't you agree> I mean I know it was for kids, but hey it was still stupid>NO?
