Newcomers might not think to scroll down to the bottom of the page. Might it not be a good idea to move it to the top, as it's located on many other sites?

Put it back in the left column, but instead of being a link, keep it as the window it is now.

ahhhh ....so that is where it is! I looked for 20 mins or so to find it recently and gave up. I certainly prefer it in this format but would suggest maybe moving it to the top of the front page. :)
