Graveyard

Why is it that whenever we have something to ask and someone doesn't like the question, the thread gets sent to the graveyard?
The graveyard is for old threads. Notification When Image is Removed was only five days old?

I think you answered your own question, Cindy. The process by which members are asked for their opinions or ideas, only to have them disregarded or belittled, is disheartening, and likely one reason the membership is dwindling. People will put up with that sort of treatment for only so long.

Wondering if you read that discussion thread, Nik?

In it's entirety, and in particular ... the tail end (last few posts or so)?

Yes? No?

Cindy:

"Where old threads go to die."

That is one reason for those threads to exist there.

The other being, for those discussion threads that have devolved into something other than and past the point of being productive.

Note that it is also used for spam. So saying that it is only for old threads is rather pedantic. The description clearly isn't supposed to be taken literally.

The threads are moved the the graveyard when they become inflammatory, repetitive and/or personal in nature or spam related.

The mods do not have the ability to move the threads.

I was in the process of answering a PM in detail, but will finish that later and address some issues here.

It saddens me that anyone takes this site so seriously and to make it their personal mission in life to change the way things are done and be heard because they are right and *caedes is wrong.
(no directive here, that is simply what I have taken away from the various threads.)

To take a place of beauty, of trial and error, with images which are just a moment in time, captured by someone ,with love and hope, and turn it into a spiteful, hateful catfight and to upset oneself so much is quite disheartening to me and I am sure to *caedes as well. :=(

I can assure you personally that *caedes is fully aware of the site's assets and defects. After all, he designed it with a dream,an idea, and a vision of hope, and he has successfully carried it out.

I recognize that one person is responsible to see that the Integrity and legality of the site is upheld no matter what and no matter who in in the way.

Others have left in disgust with malicious words thrown about, threats left, relationships started and ended and have even started their own site (to prove *caedes wrong) and have failed due to the many issues that came into play.

It is not about putting pretty pictures up and walking away.

This is about diligence and monitoring, money that isn't forthcoming to rent the server and complete and total selflessness to allow others a place to communicate with people who have like interests and a common bond.

What kind of message is being given to people who are new to the site when they read rather intense threads?
I am thankful I did not read a single read until I was on the site for 2 years.....otherwise, I seriously doubt that I would have stayed here.

Threads are not bad thing, we can disagree without being disagreeable. Can't we? And no personal jabs thrown? I know it can be done....we could all try it for 1 month and see how it works, eh? :=)

*caedes has listened to the majority of the members here and made changes that were requested. Now those changes are being questioned, dissected and looked at under a microscope. WHY? (no answer needed for me, one can answer themselves :)

What next? *caedes has tried many methods to make this site enjoyable and less vulnerable to cheating by members who have less than stellar values. And yes, it has happened many time over the course of the years, sadly.

I am hearing that is not good enough.

I have members who regularly PM'd me and I considered them a good cyber-friend. Now they have stopped PM'ing me because I didn't totally agree with them? Is this what this is all about?

If I am not "on your side" I can go eat dirt? That is so not adult-like. The difference for me here is I put the Integrity of the site first rather than making everyone happy by compromising my own Integrity and having to live with that kind of karma.

My time here is has flown by. It will be 7 years on 02/14/11.

It has not been a drudergy nor a fight to the bitter end.

I find the site to be 90% fun and 10% work. I miss those who have "X'd" me off their friends list but my life will go on.

Remember that each of us is a golden thread in the tapestry of Life, we are woven together no matter our beliefs, our visions, our hopes or even our shattered dreams. We are bound by that same drive that brought us here, beauty and capturing it with our eyes and presenting it to the rest of our Tapestry group.

Let us work on preserving those golden threads, shine them up a bit, take a deep breath, hold hands, take a nap :o) and have fun.

Whether you realize it or not,we all need each other.

If anyone has any questions, I will be happy to answer them via PM.

Have a good day everyone,

~mimi~

Then what here can be taken literally? That the thread digressed can be credited to the person who told us to in effect shut up and go away.

Well, there didn't seem to be much disagreement on the original topic, and the thread had digressed for a while before it was buried. The mechanics of the Art Council are being discussed elsewhere anyway.

I hadn't kept track of my nominating "success" so far, but I'm going to start now.

Every time an image I've nominated that was then advanced to the perms, I have been notified. Doesn't it work this way for everyone?

We use the graveyard primarily when a discussion has become unproductive for whatever reason. There are situations where the content of the discussion is useful but it eventually degrades into a morass that is going nowhere. Moving the discussion to the graveyard keeps the original content available for future reference while encouraging everyone to move on to another topic.
