I'm not a resident, but you might take a day trip down the Keys to Key West (We've made Florida City a relay point to alleviate some of the driving, but that adds a day). Stop at Whale Harbour Inn on Isla Morada (I think) for an unbelievable seafood buffet. Amazing antebellum architecture, open markets but wild at times . . .

The only time I've been in Miami is to catch a connecting flight except for the time I had an overnight stay at a HoJo's (compliments of the airline carrier). So I can't say what are some of the hot spots & must see's in Miami.
