How to enter in a contest?

I uploaded a picture I want to take a part in contest with. I don't know how to put it in. I see in the edit menu a few but I don't see for example "Complementary colors". Please help!

Hi Maria;
Just click on the word "Contests"
under Navigation in the colum on the left side of this page. You will see a box with a drop down that will list your photo. After you pick your photo just click the "Enter The Contest" button to enter the current contest.

i'm trying to submit an entry to the surrealist contest but cant see any 'enter the contest button' after 1/2 an hour of searching....can someone please help!

You can only enter images that have been uploaded since the contest was announced. If you haven't uploaded anything, the option is not available.
One of the terms of the contest is that you are not allowed to enter images you have previously uploaded on caedes; the idea is to encourage people to enter original material in contests.

yes i uploaded my image earlier today i haven't previously uploaded it,at least i don't think i have.
but i cannot see the 'enter the contest' button.
i can put it into a gallery called contest but there are no entries there, its not the current contest.
but it may be because it hasn't yet appeared in the new images gallery.

Putting it in the contest gallery won't enter it in the contest. That gallery is just a left over.
I can't remember exactly how you do it, I think maybe on this page:

Apparently you've figured it out, but for future reference, no, you can't enter it until it's approved, i.e. in the New Images. That means you actually have to upload it an unpredictable number of hours before the contest ends.
