You have said nothing about those intent on destroying this site. I prefer the quote by Forrest Gump "Stupid is as stupid does" The site is already destroyed, have you not noticed that a lot of members are not posting any new photos lately, what part of we need a simple message from another mod or Geri himself to save this site.
"Windows 95 is a 32-bit extention to a 16-bit patch for an 8-bit operating system that was originally coded for a 4-bit microprocessor by a 2-bit company that can't stand 1-bit of competition."

Because, tBob. You were mocking me by mocking something I had said in another thread and trying to make me look foolish. That's why I said what I did in response. I know that I should have bitten my tongue, but that is what this whole thing is about. It is about us being respectful to each other and listening to each other and even though we might disagree, not be sarcastic or arrogant and put each other down. No more mods against members or members against mods. We were here together for the same purpose and the purpose wasn't to be at odds with one another.
Yes I was taunting you but you cant deny you taunt the other members on the site. All you have to do is go back and read yes?maybe on a different level but all the same. The thing is I come on here ever few months to post something and nobody looks.I goto threads and there post after post of nothing but complaints about this one or that one.I open emails and nothing but this one pitied against that one.It seems all anyone wants to do is hang on the forum and bash everyone and everything its insanity.I've often wondered why some will take a long time to think out some awesome comeback to something on a thread but wont take 20 sec to look at what another member posts and leave a constructive comment.I cant come on the site without being harassed or complained to.WTF believe it or not im like you guys I like to post stuff and have people give advice and such.If you think the site isnt user friendly just go back to the beginning and follow the timeline ,trust me you with have a new respect for the place.I've never been against anyone I'm just a guy who likes to listen to music and make art stuff. That all being said Im sorry I pissed you off and am glad your over it.

and once again another thread becomes a slinging match.. from reading the above seems there is no sense of humour on here.. geez.. Les was just "trying" to be funny and put a thread that was light to read for a change instead of who said what.. who offended who.. no wonder people leave here.. in the words of PINK.. "This used to be a fun house.. now it's full of evil clowns"
Don't bother to respond because I'm over all this petty BS.. it's like being in a day care centre!
I think you should all go sit in the naughty corner until you can play nice.. ;) lol
@ Les, the reality is that many people have stopped their activities on the site (for a while). See, for instance, the by Gregg (Eggray) started thread under Discussion Board/Non-art Website Issues/So few new images today. Some people have already left the site frustrated and others have the intention to do so. You always have pretended that there are no problems, and now you write a vague open letter to people in which you assume by its title that they want to destroy the site. Unless you have written the letter to yourself, it seems to be a rather stupid action, to me. You have placed now constructively minded people, having the best intentions for the site, in the suspect area. I had expected from you a different approach, because you're a serious, very involved, and experienced moderator. You’ve told us in another thread (Discussion Board/Elephant Graveyard/Social Caedes) that the financial situation of the site is far from rosy. Instead of trying to keep the doubters inboard, you make them, by your style of acting, only angrier. You may have possibly right, but having right is rather different than getting right. In any case, the way you’re acting, as a responsible moderator, has nothing to do with ‘customer-friendliness’. Any member who wishes to remain, should be cherished rather than being approached in such an agitated way. If that could be achieved, then this thread can be instantly banned to the elephant graveyard as well and many people will decide not to turn away from the site, where in the past, they have experienced a lot of friendship and fun.
Believe me, I belong to that group of people.
Please, look in the mirror. You could render the site a great service with this.
no sense of humour!!!! did he write abusive offensive comments? did he single out anyone? did he make a comment for an argument? NO.. he did it for some fun.. maybe he should have thought before writing the title.. but come on seriously haven't you done anything stupid and regretted it after you've done it? guess there are a lot of "perfect" people who have never done anything stupid.. sorry if that offends but I really can't see how this thread can cause people to leave the site
Sorry that you're not informed that good. You could have known better if you had read the previous threads about this matter. In my above comment I have mentioned two of them. Even reading only this comment could have informed you that it's not this thread that may cause people to leave this site.
Thing is this IS NOT the thread for this matter.. as you say there are previous threads about it.. as for not been informed I am VERY informed thanks as I have been reading the other threads (and i must say that i'm very disappointed in the way peoples opinions are treat with disrespect).. so why bring the for and against/debates/arguments/battles of egos from other threads onto this one?? if you need to say more about the previous threads maybe that should be where those comments should be written..
as far as I can see Les was "trying" to be funny so therefore comments should have been about what he wrote not about what was in previous threads..
It seems to me that whatever thread is written even if it has absolutely nothing to do with "previous threads" it always ends up with those being repeated and spoiling the thread for the member who started it.. have a bit of respect for the person who started this discussion (and I would have said that for you to if it had been you who had started this discussion)..
I find it very sad that every thread is hijacked these days no wonder it's always the same people who start them, it shows a very poor image to new members who maybe have something to say or want to start a discussion when they see that if they do start a thread or ask a question this is what will happen to it..
Thats my opinion that is how I see it and THAT is the end of my discussion on here.
Feel free to continue your discussions in this thread about previous threads that are already open to be discussed on.
You are saying: "if you need to say more about the previous threads maybe that should be where those comments should be written."
I agree with you, but the fact is that I've tried to do so, but the thread was instantly banned to the elephant graveyard after I had posted my last comment to it. Knowing that this matter is very sensitive, Les has, in my opinion, put salt into open wounds now by starting this new (meant as humorous or ironic?) thread. It's my right to participate in this thread. Therefore I did a plea to him to be helpful in bringing back the rest, respect and understanding that we got used to on this site in the past. Don't misunderstand me, but this was the intention of my first contribution to this thread because I really have some sorrows about the future of this site.
I honestly don't think Les had the intent to upset anyone I would say he did it "with tongue in cheek" so to speak.. that is his sense of humour (eveyone is different).. Personally I wouldn't take it to heart or an attack on yourself..
As for the previous threads.. if you feel strongly about the discussion that was shot down and buried start up a new one.. but make it stated that you want to discuss it in a calm manner (which will be difficult.. lol)
I just don't think this discussion should be done on this thread..
I would just like to remind everyone that when people see things they don't like, they have the option to roll their eyes and ignore it.
Thank you. Les, please take your ball and play over there. Everybody else, the pitchforks go over there, and the flaming torches can be conveniently placed in the round hooks on the walls of the dungeon.
I thought the anti-slogans to be quite humorous ... at least it brought a chuckle to my morning. Plus I went out to vote on this past Tuesday & I believe some of the candidates used some of the exact same slogans above or similar. Funny.
Thanks for posting them, Les. ;-))
One of my favorite slogans is ....
"Make Peace Not War" .... or was it "Make Love Not War"
Either way it gets the message across.
My favorite of favorites is ....
Had enough?
... This was the 1946 slogan for Congressional elections for the out-of-power Republican Party; noting that they had been out of power in Congress since 1930, this slogan asked voters if they had "had enough" of the Democrats.
That particular slogan can used for just about anything.
I know one thing for sure I 'haven't had enough' of this site ... there's just way too much to be learned in the form of photography & CGI.
I love & respect Caedes.net & what the site has to offer for those that share a common interest.
The title itself was in poor taste and very inflammatory. Served it's purpose well it would seem. See above discussion. The stated intent was "To make us look". He was baiting us. Open your eyes or the site will go down the tubes and each and EVERYONE of us will share in the blame for that happening. Right now only Les can put a stop to what is going on by apologizing.
'In the long history of the internet, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending art and creativity in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shank from this responsibility - I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other members from any other art site. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavour will light our site and all who serve it -- and the glow from that fire can truly light the internet.
And so, my fellow Caedesians: ask not what your site can do for you - ask what you can do for your site.'
(*turns to leave podium, trips.. falls into orchestra pit*)
... ...
... ...
(*heard coming from the orchestra pit..*)
'I'm ok!'
(*solitary hand slowly rises from the depths of said pit ... fingers forming a 'peace' sign*)
Some more slogans/words/food for thought..
"Come to the Darkside We have Cookies."
"Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap."
Go ahead and make light of the whole situation. It is clear that you have no remorse for anything you have said or done. Perhaps, the people above who defend you have never experienced your sharp, condescending tongue. What we are trying to do for the site it cleanse it so it is palatible to both current and former members. We have tried to tell you about the many people who have complaints about the way you deal with them and that is the reason for their leaving. We are trying to make the site a better place for all of us, but if you insist on closing your ears and your eyes, then you are a man of hard heart and put only your own ego ahead of the advancement of this site. Shame on you Les, is all I have to say.A bigger man would admit his faults and move along, but you chose to prolong everything with your ill chosen title. So be it.
P.S. It has been proven the anti-slogans / slogans are used to catch someone's attention.
I see nothing inflammatory or wrong with the title of the thread. It caught my attention, that's for sure ... but in a fun humorous way. Read the commentary in it's entirety.
A slogan I say to my husband 'cause he dislikes peas ... those tiny green round thingies.
"Give Peas A Chance"
My husband just ignores such statements ... some of the time, but it's all for fun.
I agree that Les was just trying to be funny and possibly temper the sting from that last thread (mouldering in the grave), but that's probably because he grew up as the favored nephew of Gomez and Morticia Addams. (JK, Les)
That aside, I think all of you should go on dates with each other so you can find out what you're like in real life (not the monsters you're imagining?). Maybe then you wouldn't fight so much.
Aaaaaaaaand... yes, people are either leaving or putting a hold on submissions. Have any of you stopped to wonder if it's these antagonistic thread comments that are part of the problem? I don't have a problem with any of you and I enjoy seeing your creativity and reading your comments (except for those unnecessary ones that contain smoke, are 460 degrees Fahrenheit, and stink of sulphur). If this keeps up, my advice to all of you is if there are people here who you've come to appreciate (as I have), check their bio pages for email addresses or some form of contact, and copy them down. If this site takes a nose-dive (hopefully not), because of financial concerns or a severe drop in membership, it may disappear abruptly, and all your friends will vanish without even leaving a drop of water on the bathroom floor. I would hate to see that happen but it's a funny world, ain't it? Anything is possible whether you like it or not.

Nik ... My exact same thoughts & you couldn't have worded it better.
Actually last week I thought about pulling the plug & leaving the site. Not that I was dissatified with the site in general, the Voting Booth, C-Index, or voting distribution ... but because of the misconceptions / misunderstandings when someone posts a new discussion. I may not participate much in these discussions, but it's a big turn off for me.
Ask yourself this question & I believe there is a poll on this subject as well.
"Why Do You Come Here"?
I actually asked myself that very exact question & here I am. I stayed for the purpose of enjoying every members work / images & to share my work as well.
I think 'we' all have to restrain our thoughts, bite our tongue, or whatever it takes to make this a happy site again.
My goal is to keep posting my work, commenting / critiqueing other members work, accepting help / suggestions, & giving help back to others. We all grow as artists & further our knowledge. Old & new friendships flourish as well.
All I ask is that those that left or plan on leaving permanently or temporary to think about my question above.
Good question, Sherree and I have no ill will toward anyone here, especially those who have come to be my friends.
What I don't come here for is the continued disrespect of certain mods, mostly Les who makes the site a little less tolerable for us. It is obvious that I don't speak for everyone, but I do speak for some who have shared the same bad experiences. Some don't speak out publicly for different reasons and some still are posting. I can't explain the motivations each of them has, but even former members have been telling us the same thing. The reason they left the site was due to their treatment by the mods. It is simply that simple.
I have explained my position quite clearly I think. There is no hidden agenda to take down the site or make anyone miserable. If someone attacked you, would you bite your tongue and go along your merry way as if nothing were any different or would you come back to be attacked again? That is the question I ask you to consider.
Then why do I feel like I'm being punished for staying?
In my eyes all the Mods are doing their job to the best of their knowledge. They don't have all the answers in front of them.
If someone disrespected me I most certainly wouldn't come back with something just as disrespectful. I would figure out why they said it on my own accord & find the answer for myself. I don't like conflict, but that's just me & wouldn't in no way disrespect that person. I'd do just the opposite & respect them even more ' cause they & their words opened my eyes.
Looks at the comment above ...
Respect goes both ways ... anyways that is what I was taught.
I'll ask this question again ... "Why Do You Come Here"?
My apologies to Les (with respect) for turning this thread into something else.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
I am sure your friends will respect your decision, regardless.
Moar funny..

Did I just hijack my own thread and morph it into something else?
Well Les,when I make a promise to someone I've personally meet, I keep my promise. I was asked to do the Birthday Thread, I truly do have fun doing that. When the world is having so many problem I think that my cards or posting do brighten up the day for them, or at least I hope so. Even if some people don't like them, just don't look.

An open letter to those intent on destroying this site.. This was the thread, but I am still looking for the discussion because it was followed by a sophomoric attempt of slogan humor. However, the subject still remains to be dealt with, “The destroying of this site”. You want to post slogan humor? How is this one, “As Administration, Moderators and etc., we will destroy it form within”. We will do this with our political biased behavior, the disregard for members who post things that normally do not meet with the tunneled vision of various site regulators. However I believe members are leaving because this site only allows one photo/art work to be posted each 24 hours. Unless one wins a “so-called Contest”, which in itself is dubious at best. Also the voting booth is a real joke! Some members receive extremely high marks for so-so photos while other, with real exceptional photographic excellence receives very low marks. This is an enigma wrapped in a real puzzle to me. No, I choose not to participate in the voting booth because of the inequities therein. I take and submit photos because I like what I am doing, not because someone will give me cookie or some other meaningless reward. Perhaps members are leaving because they have no control as to whom visit or makes disparaging remarks within their postings. { I. E. Block-Delete tools} This seems to be a very antiquated restriction not to allow a member to control his/her home within this site. This would remove most of, if not all, the problems with lack of respect to members. To help improve this site, should we request our Administrators/Moderators, (Owner) take-up apprenticeship on FLICKR or back to Web Site design in order to come out of the “Stone Age” and into the “Computer Age”?
The title was simply misdirection. An attempt to lighten things up a bit. Granted, not in the best of taste, but I don't believe it was to be malicious.

Well, I think you would agree that there is one redeeming quality to the site here, Mack.
Les, I think you should also agree that there is more than one redeeming quality to this site. There are so many members and you can only reference one? I think you made Cynlees point. It would pay to heed Cornelius and Eggrays posts. You may have wanted to inject some humor here, but now you have some Talking Points by members who are voicing their concerns about this site.
I, like you Nikoneer, do not want to believe it was malicious either. However, the can has been opened. The worms are no longer in the dark but out in the open to be dealt with. Lux et veritas.
why is that these days people take things as malicious/consipiracy or just plain evil and don't look at it on a light view..
well i'm not commenting anymore on this thread because no matter what anyone says it will always be what the other threads which have been going on and on and on for god knows how long lately with nothing new always the same things repeated over and over again..
Such good role models for our newbies and the younger ones.. keep up the good work.. I really hope your lives in the real world are different to the way you are all acting on here
LES YOUR EVIL.. lol go sit in the corner and behave yourself..
and yes I'm being a bitch but i've been reading all this for awhile seems that you just can't please anyone.. if it's not the CI its the voting booth.. if it's not the voting booth it's the Zeros.. if it's not the zeros it's the art council and now a new one popped up about the contests.. for godsakes.. life is short enjoy it don't waste it on things like this..
Thats it.. i'm gone... goodluck everyone I hope one day (not that it will happen) you will all get along and maybe just maybe enjoy the site and be happy..
The ending is just the beginning repeating The ending is just the beginning repeating Everything goes away But comes back some day The ending is just the beginning repeating
:oP
Anyways, since I've got your ATTENTION.
