What happened to the image sizes?
Has anyone else but me got strange sizes to uploaded images?
Mine are 607x341 810x455 1080x607 1440x810 1843x1037
This is not the sizes it used to be. Does anyone know what happened?

It depends on the size of the image you upload. The site will try to match the proportions of the image you uploaded.

Providing a link to the image you are talking about would be helpful.

Going to take a guess here, Susanne..

Taking a look at your last few uploads, the largest resolution size is that of 1920x1080.

Not that of 1920X1280, or for that matter.. the other common 'wide screen' size of 1920X1200.

Going back to your image of:

http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Caedes::Infopage&image=SEFA-1313837312.jpg

Largest resolution size is that of 1680x1050. Which would scale to that of 1920X1200.

Since then, your images sizes (largest) that have been uploaded have changed somewhat.

Thank you for your answers, I appreciate it.
As you are saying my upload image size lately is 1920x1080 and that is also the size that was showing here at Caedes earlier.
Now it has changed to the largest size showing is 1843x1037.
(My screen resolution is 1920x1080. I have a "SyncMaster P2770H/P2770FH (Digital)" screen.)
Has there been any changes for the image sizes shown?

1920x1200 is a 16x10 screen (common for computer monitors) and 1920x1080 is a 16x9 screen (common for TVs).

(The reason I mention this, is because I thought aspect ratio might be playing a part in what you have observed, Susanne.)

Typically, you should be able to configure your monitor a couple of ways:

a) 1 to 1:

In this mode *video is displayed without any scaling. Any none native resolution will be displayed in the center with the appropriate black horizontal or vertical space surround the image. If you display 800x600 video, the LCD monitor will display exactly 800x600 pixels in the center of the screen.

(*Note: Talking about video here ... same would apply to imagery to an extent.)

b) Fill to Screen:

In this mode, none native resolution video will be stretched to fill the entire screen and may stretch the video vertically or horizontally if the source video is not using the same aspect ratio as the monitor.

c) Fill to Aspect Ratio:

In this mode, none native resolution video will be stretched vertically and horizontally to fill the screen while keeping the aspect ratio unchanged. This is the mode that you want to have if you intend to display non-native resolution video.

(**Note: Before you purchase any widescreen monitor, make sure it can do video scaling for non-native resolution while keeping the same aspect ratio.)

So.. I think that perhaps something is occurring between the site and that of your monitor.

The site does detect what the resolution/size of your monitor and display is, and adjusts the images available accordingly. What I may be offered with respect to varying image sizes ... may not be the same for someone else with a different monitor/display and resolution.

When I view your last few images, the sizes available to me are:

607x341 .. 810x455 .. 1080x607 .. 1440x810 .. 1920x1080

(Notice, that the original largest size is kept intact for me, at 1920x1080.)

However.. the (other) question might be.. with these changes noticed by you, Susanne ... is the viewing of the images on your monitor affected?

Quality wise? Any distortion, etc.?

And lastly and finally.. since you've posted here, I am sure that *caedes will read your posts here. And if necessary, make any changes and/or reply. Time and opportunity permitting. :o)

Thank you Les for the answer. I went to have a look at my gallery again today, and now it is back to normal again with all the right sizes. Thank you.
