Stopping an Upload

I was just wondering if it would be difficult to add a feature that could possibly stop an upload in progress once one realizes they've forgotton to add something or chose the wrong category, etc.? Maybe I'm the only one who does these blooper things but every now and then I discover it while the image is uploading and end up having to wait for it's post to do the edit.

You can always change categories under the "edit" option in the Caedes Control or when viewing your image in your gallery.

I must admit I too have thought about an abort option during an upload or the possibility to delete an image one have just uploaded, if it was the wrong one, and get back my right to submit the one I meant to upload again. (As far as I remember it's only if an image mod reject a submission that I get the right back to submit an alternate image.)

Yes. And, I have many times. ;)

What I mean is to have that extra 30 seconds or so that it's uploading to say "whoa hold it" and stop the upload BEFORE it counts. I suppose I'll either quit making those silly typing mistakes before I hit submit or wait around as I usually do for the image to upload, try to get to it before anyone else does, then edit right away before anyone sees it.

Good morning
It is just that I am on a slow connection (56K modem). All I do when I run into this issue is hit the x on the browser window. This seems to stop it every time, as have noticed that if I do not get the 'success' message (e.g. 404 problems getting to that page once the upload completes) then the image never appears in the new images gallery.
Enjoy your day

Hi Romane. Thanks. That's an easy enough solution. I am assuming then that you are able to turn right around after you've corrected what you wanted to correct and upload again, correct?

Good morning B.J.
Yes, just open a new browser window and start from the beginning - because of the cookies Caedes will recognise you are still logged on. Because of the nature of my slow connection, I usually work with about two or three browser windows open anyway, so a simple shift/click at the 'Upload' menu on one of them is all I need to restart the upload process, but works fine still even when all browser windows are closed down and then one reopened.
Enjoy the day ahead of you.

Dang, I think I heard that some time ago. I had forgotten all about it though. ^_^

If you delete an image that you just uploaded then you'll be able to upload a new one right then. The deleted one will not count towards the daily quota.

Good! Thanks Caedes. Those are the two easy solutions I was looking for and was unsure of the consequences of both actions. ;)

you can also press the stop button on your browser to halt the upload. I have several times before :p

I didn't see one where I usually would. Is that because I'm on a Mac?

You are running panther right? Safari or another browser? My mac is a bit old so it's too slow sometimes to make smooth browsing possible. (Then again I load like 10 pages in tabs simultaneously all the time... What? There's so much to look at! ^_^) The reload button in Safari is the same to punch in order to stop the loading of a page as Anthony suggested. But you may think of another button in another browser I guess. (Or perhaps I misunderstood what you meant... (My wife has got a newer mac and I don't think she would have the same problem as me. I would go for closing the browser (/tab) window I guess, since it's the fastest method for me.))

Thank you. Me too. Since I know now that there are no unwanted side-effects of doing so. ;)

What we really need is a "Reconsideration" button. I chose an image, spice it up a smidge, and then upload it, but while it is loading, I wonder if it is a piece of junk. I could probably save the time by not uploading. :-)

Well the subject as been covered up, but I'll had anyway that I have to wait until the upload is complete just to open another window otherwise my upload ends right there! I have to submit all over again! So it can be the way to stop a bad upload. ;0))!
