I have noticed a great difference in the way things look on my computer before I upload them and the way they look on Caedes. Someone I suggested that I calibrate my display. I was wondering if someone uses a Mac and would be willing to give me a set of numbers for setting. Also, what bit do you use? Thanks so much. jen

the problem isn't the monitor if it looks different after being uploaded... first I need to know what application you are using to process the image.

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)

I keep jumping back and forth between CS2 and the newer (which I don't understand) CS5. Thanks for jumping in.

What you want to do is keep your original image, finalized with all your corrections, and save that.

Then try this:

When you're ready to upload, under the edit menu in the top menu bar, select "Convert to Profile" and set the destination space as "sRGB", and make any more color corrections that you might need as it appears in that color space. First try saving as a .png image and uploading. If that doesn't work, use the "Save for Web" feature under the File menu, and play around with the different formats (.jpg, .png, etc.) until the results work for you. What you see in the "Save for Web" screen will be pretty accurate as far as your upload.

I assigned the profile and saved it. It looked pretty much the same which is the way I want it to look. Then, when I saved for the web, it bleached out and looked awful. This is so frustrating.

Don't save it for web, (that was only if the other doesn't work for you). and upload it to see how it turns out.

When you save for web it often converts the image to a low quality image format (such as BMP) to keep the file size as low as possible. That might be what's happening.

Make sure you "convert to profile" not assign profile. to convert to profile you go to EDIT-> Convert to Profile and choose "sRGB IEC61966"

Let's go back and check a few things..

First:

Color Settings.

And once you have this window dialogue up ... can click on "More Options". Which will look like this:

Color Settings - More Options

Another option is to make use of the 'search' function/option of Photoshop's Help files, as suggested in the images above. (Header or introduction to the window dialogue(s) ).

"For more information on color settings, search for "setting up color management" in Help. This term is searchable from any Creative Suite application (Photoshop).":

Adobe Photoshop - Help Menu - Photoshop Help

Or..

Again, from the Help drop-down menu in the Toolbar ... can access:

Adobe Photoshop - Help Menu - Set output options

All of the above are screenshots from my own copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended. I don't think that there will be much difference between that of your CS2 and even that of CS5.

And I usually save my work/images in PNG format after all post processing/editing is done:

File - Save as

Which will open this window dialogue:

File - Save as PNG

And then.. upload to the site here.

Done.

No "Save for Web (& Devices)" ... no "Convert to Profile". Referencing "Convert to Profile" ... no need for me to do so. As it is already set up via Color Settings.

I've experienced, at times.. some minor differences between what I viewed on my monitor and that which is displayed on site. However, nothing substantial.
