Rejected Images questions

Hi all - I've heard that some people have asked for further information on why their images were rejected and have not been answered. I'd like to help prevent that in the future.

The currently most active mods who can best answer are:

Myself
Samatar
Purmusic (Les)
Mimi
Piner.

If you have a question, please send it to one of us via PM, and we will do our best to respond within 24 hours (as we will most likely have logged on and checked our PMs in that time). If you do not receive an answer after 24 hours please either follow up with the same mod, or PM a different mod, noting who you tried to reach first.

If I don't get back to you, I'm not ignoring you, I just lost you in between work, teenagers, and upcoming Hanukkah and Christmas stuff. 8•)

Hello Cat,

I appreciate this generous offer. It's really a positive and constructive approach of resolving a problem that can happen to all of us.

Think however that when an image is rejected by an Image Moderator, it would be even better that the person who has uploaded the rejected image, is not only told that the image has been rejected, but that the involved Image Moderator also would give a brief explanation why the image was rejected. I suppose that such a simple standard procedure may prevent confusion and/or misunderstanding.

Regards, Cornelius.

Hey Cornelius - you should receive a form letter with the rejection that explains why it is rejected in an overall category. We generally expect people to read and understand the CoC with respect to image requirements, and the form letter is considered a reminder to review.

We're happy to clear up any misunderstandings, clarify anything, if the member still does not understand. However, most of the time, the goal is to get the images in the queue dealt with, and we may not have the time or verbal ability to explain at that moment. (i.e. When I'm trying to deal with the images and the teenager who is asking me if the sky is green.) While it would seem to be simplistic to say that we should leave it for someone else if we can't give it our full attention, the reality of doing that would mean a longer time for images to be approved and as the lesser of 2 evils, that is what we want to avoid.

Edit - If the member still does not understand, or didn't receive their form letter.

Hmm. In consideration of the time of the mods, and the members' wish for a reason, why not have a drop down menu? I'm sure most rejections fall into a small number of reasons. Those that don't fit, could go into a one or two line comment box, ie "Sorry, but a mustache on Whistler's Mother is neither a rework, nor a manipulation. (apologies to Rowan Atkinson)

;-) <--- obligatory winkie.

What!? You mean the painting I have hanging in my living room "Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist's Mother" with the mustached woman is not the original?

Rob, it was already done ages ago. We have several form letters that are sent out depending on the reason it was rejected.

Cat maybe should have wrote "you should receive one of several form letters with the rejection that explains why it is rejected in an overall category." to make it clearer.

D'oh!

And Tom? The fact that it was painted on velvet, and purchased at Woolworths might've been a sizable hint.

----Rob, it was already done ages ago. We have several form letters that are sent out depending on the reason it was rejected----

Referring to the above comment of Tom aka 'Piner', I read now that such form letters already were created ages ago(!) I didn't know this. Therefore I ask myself now why these form letters were not used recently by the rejection of images of different artists like Michel (Catherina1) and Stan (Roseman_Stan). This would have clarified the rejection and would have prevented a lot of anger, misunderstanding and confusion.

Sometimes we miss hitting the button, or the form letter message they receive is not specific enough for it to be clear. We can see about making them a little more specialized, but we do need to keep them fairly limited so that we're not scrolling through a large list looking for the one we want to send.

That's why I wanted there to be a clear method here for getting an answer, when one is missing, or more explanation is needed.

I have a question as to why my Image "Happy Holidays to All" was removed from my gallery and the site yesterday. It was posted yesterday morning, obviously approved by some moderator, and had been up all day and evening with comments posted. There was nothing I know of in it that violated any Caedes rules. I was not notified it was being taken down. I have PM'd two moderators that I know have been online yesterday and today with no response thus far. Have others experienced this? What's going on with this site?

Hi Trixxie, before I investigate this, 2 questions.

1) Were the moderators you messaged in the list above?
2) Has it been 24 hours since you messaged them?

Oops! I see that I'm one of them - pardon me, I haven't gotten to my pm's yet. However, please do give us 24 hours to respond. Frequently we may log on, but not be able to check at that moment. I'll pm you back in a bit.

Just received/read your PM, Kathy (aka; trixxie17).

A question arose on the origins of the image.. with respect to the text that appeared in the upper left.

Specifically, it reads;

"Your text here
Your tex Happyt here."

Could you explain it's appearance?

It was surmised ... that the image may be from some software or have other origins and was subsequently place in 'limbo' for discussion and followup.

It has not been removed from the site.

The image is a photograph I took last week - it was edited in various programs including Picnik where I created the border. The text box was added in another older editing program - it apparently malfunctioned and I didn't notice those tiny, tiny words in the upper left as I had put the text in the lower left. It is all my work and my screw up for not noticing. I have sent the original unedited image to Cat along with EXIF data and a corrected image removing the problem words. I hope that explains sufficiently why those tiny words were there.

If I might suggest ... care to post the newer/corrected version in place of?

Always thought there were a few more "actives" than that...especially after all this time...
