Does anyone think it would be a good idea to filter the displayed 'members online' so that only users with at least one picture in their gallery would be displayed?

This would be useful because i used to always click on users on this list to have a browse through their gallery, but now with all these new members 4 times out of 5 they dont have a gallery for me to look at. This might mean new artists could get more attention on their galleries....

It's an interesting idea. I'm not sure how the current list is populated. It's obviously not a comprehensive list of all members currently online. But I do agree that it would be nice if that list had more meaning, or some sort of order. Maybe Caedes can enlighten us as to what configuration the current list uses.

Perhaps those within the top 150 pages of the author list would be included. It may seem unfair, like we are rating people, but any one or two honest efforts will get you that...no reason to feel shunned...

i think postaldude is not nessarly refering to limiting rank in the author list, only making it so that a member has to have posted an image.

Another thing with the Members Online board...is it possible to list them alphabetically? or alphabetically in groups, like the board members first, then mods, then cadre members, then regular members...would make finding people a lot easier :D

That's how it currently is on the dev site and how it will be when the software is sufficiently bug-free.

Perhaps - 'mods online' then 'cadre online' then 'artists online' (i.e. 1 image+) and then 'members online'?

That is a GREAT idea. I'm new here and just came here for the first time. I read this comment and thought Oh really? I can view other peoples' favorites? So the first person I clicked on had nothing. Only have so much time really. Don't want to waste it.

It probably wouldn't matter to the people who haven't any favorites. Great idea. Sooner the better.

I was not referring to limiting rank. It may not be significant at all, but filtering off the last few pages of the author list was just an idea. It would keep everybody who contributes on just the same if not more effectively considering that it wouldn't count the uploader who posted one image created in paint saying "Hey There" with clashing colors.

The only trouble would be taking into consideration that the size of the author list changes from time to time. It grows steadily until our spring cleaning (not necessarily in the spring) when it is reduced remarkably. Perhaps saying "all the authors in the non-last-five-pages section of the author list" or "people with at least this c-index" (which would be an extremely low number) would be more accurate than saying "people in the first 150 pages of the author list".

Another idea: I can understand how depressing and belittling it would be for any author (or possibly member) not to have their own profile listed in the members online. Caedes has done a great job so far making sure that each of us is always on our own, even if not on others. If this circumstance could be kept, I image it would be a nice feature.

I would be more inclined to add a special marker to the username to designate them as a contributor (like our group symbol system). This could easily be done bycreating a group just above a default member. We can call it 'author' or 'artist' or whatever. Then they can have a '^' or '%' or something before the username. That would make it easy to tell who has a gallery.

Interesting; I had kind of gave up on usingthe online members to browse galleries being I went to too many that hadn't yet uploaed or just had an acount for downloading. It's just as easy for me to just head to the new galleries or browse the people that stop by mine. any way y'all have for me to find people I'll be sure to use though :-)
