in the last three days, i've gotten some official looking emails from paypal and ebay, saying if i didn't give them my atm card number, i may face suspension. i send paypal a nasty on their website about how bogus this sounded and yesterday i got a response. you guessed it BOGUS, don't believe that any place you do business with is going to ask you for this info, no matter how official it looks...
You are a good watchdog. I got something similar about a month ago saying that my account had been tampered with and therefore put on hold by paypal. It went on to say to contact them to reactivate it. Well, how stupid do you maggots think I am, lol. I just deleted the e-mail and went on with my usual buisness. Good effort though on their part;-)
I got that one, too. It's when they asked for my PIN that I figured... nope. You should forward the email to PayPal. You can click on 'page source' under most browsers and there are also several websites wherein you can cut and paste the IP address in a search box to ascertain if it is legit or camouflage.
