Transfer of posts to New Images

I have noticed that since quite a few months the images posted do not appear in the new images according to the time they were posted. It seems that some images are picked at random and transferred and the others must wait till the next upload before appearing in the new images. This has often happened to me lately. I suppose it is an automatic upload and that there is something wrong there. I cannot imagine that a moderator has held them back intentionally.

Raj, I assure you that no images are ever held back.

You are correct in that this upload/approval process is totally random.

/\ What she said.. and..

In approving images, we can view when other members have approved an image.

Typically.. it's a handful of members or so doing this, participating.

And at times, I've seen 'friends' approve other 'friends'' images.. bypassing some others in queue.

Happens.

So..

A combination of the system in place; participation by members in general, restrictions on those privileges to members participating (number of images that can be approved in any given day by a member).. some 'cherry picking' in approving some images before others in queue ... can lead to the perceived randomness of approving images and then that of their appearance in the New Images Galleries.

Outside of a recent hiccup.. all images do eventually get approved and appear in the New Images galleries in as timely a manner as possible .. vis-a-vis .. all site resources (members/mods participating.. time and opportunities permitting).

Okay got it Les. It is ridiculous if some members skip approving some images intentionally. It takes only two seconds to do that! They should not participate in the approval process if that is the case.

We live in a selfish and often unthinking world, Raj. The best we can do is to follow the Golden Rule and treat others with dignity and respect, understanding that we cannot change the way others conduct themselves, nor should we.

If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.

I must repeat my complaint. Today I uploaded an image at 09:30 central European time (GMT + 1 hr). Images posted 8 hours later have appeared on the new images but not mine from 09:30! What kind of random upload is this? As it is there are fewer and fewer images being posted and this "random" picking makes the situation even worse. I think that if caedes really wants to keep this site going such irregularities must be stopped.

Your image was approved by a moderator at:

12/01/15 18:59 (E.S.T. time stamp)

Again.. it may be that there are not enough members participating, more so than any other factor, Raj.

As I just went through the last couple of dozen approved images and it is still only a handful of caedes members' names that show up.

On.. the up side..

Your friends can still view and comment on your images, prior to 'approval'.

Interim solution?

Make friends with.. everybody.

why does there have to be an "approval process"why not let people post to the site and the mods moderate? thought the whole point of the mod system was so caedes didnt have to sit on the site 24/7.

Well.. the addition of having members assist on the approving of images was to make the site more self-efficient, for lack of a better term.

More hands make light work.. kind of thing

And the mods still approve images, as always, and check for transgressions of the CoC.

Stating the obvious.. there are not as many active mods as before, either.

The move to membership approving images.. should work.

And.. scale.

And if I recall correctly, not all members are put into the pool of those that can approve. (Not sure of the exact criteria that *caedes employs in the selection.)

The point being, even if 'site activity' shows a list of 100 members.. the activity level and frequency of visits to the site by those members listed varies.
