Canon S1 v. Canon S2

I'm looking to upgrade my S1 to an S2. It's been a great camera, but I want something with a little more clarity. I also like the higher zoom, megapixels, and closer macro focus (0 cm). I'm fairly sure I want to go with an S2 as my next camera since I really like the controls on the S1, but I'm not dead-set. I was also looking at the Olympus 8080. Quite a few MP higher, but not nearly as much optical zoom.

I guess I don't have any specific questions. I'm just looking for general comments on decent ($500-700) cameras. If anyone has any experience with the cameras mentioned, please share.

With out doing to much real research i would say that if i was in the market for this type of camera the s2 would be very high on my list of cameras to get. The large amount of zoom, roatating LCD, and image stabilzer would be the selling points for me i think. If you haven't already take a look at www.dpreview.com for some very extensive reviews on pretty much every digital camera out there. It will probably have some comparison stuff comparing the S2 to other similar cameras that you may find interesting.

Well are you looking for a superzoom or a "prosumer"? The 8080 is technically in a different class than the S2, and is more direct competition for something like the Canon Pro1. In the superzoom market, the S2 has done quite well in the dpreview review, as has the new Sony H1 (review) A friend of mine bought a Panasonic FZ-20 and it seems to have some excellent results as well (a few strange image quality quirks here and there, but mostly quite good).
Personally, I'm sticking with my S1 for budgetary reasons, but it's an exciting time for the new class of superzooms.
