In order to achieve genuine, lasting world peace based on compassion, we need a sense of universal responsibility. First we have to try inner disarmament----- reducing our own anger and hatred while increassing mutual trust and human affection.
On the question of racial discrimination, to those who will learn, this further lesson: That until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned: That until there are no longer first-class and second class citizens of any nation; That until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes; That until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race; That until that day, the dream of lasting peace and world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be pursued but never attained; And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes that hold our brothers in subhuman bondage have been toppled and destroyed; Until bigotry and prejudice and malicious and inhuman self-interest have been replaced by understanding and tolerance and good-will; Until all stand and speak as free beings, equal in the eyes of all men, as they are in the eyes of Heaven; Until that day, we will not know peace. We will fight, if necessary, and we know that we shall win, as we are confident in the victory of good over evil. -Haile Selassie
Speaking of good, and evil......The war between good, and evil in which evil is destined to lose. The moment when the greatest of good drives a dagger deep into the heart of the purest of evil, and although we know that the good in this world will conquer the evil....we still have an obligation to the fight. The good fight.
"A piece of toast with butter always lands butter side down, and a cat always lands on its feet. What happens if a piece of toast is tied butter side down to the back of falling cat? Does it hover above the ground in perpetual indecision?"

If we are on the right path and facing the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking....
When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter, hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without even a crack in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow, it will split into two. I know then it was not that one blow that did it, but all that had gone on before.
My Grandfather used to tell me, "Boy! When you think things are tough....just remember that you are still alive, and as long as you're still alive..... well then everything's alright!"

For my life, give me all lives,
Give me all sorrow of all the world and I will transform it into hope.
Listen to the salutation to the Dawn!
Look to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
Verities and Realities of your Existence;
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And Tomorrow is only a Vision;
But Today well lived makes every
Yesterday a Dream of Happiness, and every
Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn.
Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore.
Touched by a loving heart, wakend by kindness,
Chords thet are broken will vibrat once more.
If one assumes a humble attitude, one's own good qualityies will increase. Whereas if one is proud, one will become jealous of others, one will look down on others, and due to that there will be unhappiness in society.
I never was guilty of wrong action, but on my account, lives have been lost, trains have been wrecked, ships have gone down at sea, cities have burned, battles have been lost, and governments have failed.
I never struck a blow or spoke an unkind word, but because of me, homes have been broken up, friends have grown cold, the laughter of children has ceased, wives have shed bitter tears, brothers and sisters have forgotten, and fathers and mothers have gone broken hearted to their graves.
I have intended no evil, but because of me, talent and genius have come to naught, courtesy and kindness have failed, and the promise of success and happiness has yielded sorrow and disaster.
I have no color except black; no sound but just my silence; no cause for being myself; no progeny except grief and disaster.

If your heart is a volcano, how can you expect flowers to bloom?
As one goes through life, you learn that if you don't paddle your own canoe, you dont move.
Beauty is often more important to men because they see better than some of them think.
We are not on this earth to see through one another, but to see one another through.
The more mental coping skill syou have, the more resilient you will be.
Life is a mystery to be lived, not a puzzle to solve.
You can't change the past, but you can ruin a perfectly good present by worrying about the future.
Happiness is the only commodity that multiplies by division.
Knowledge comes but wisdom lingers.
There is very little difference in people but that little difference makes a big difference.
The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.
"May the blessing of the great rains be on you,
may they beat upon your spirit
and wash it fair and clean,
and leave there many a shining pool
where the blue of heaven shines,
and sometimes a star."
A more, hmm, optimistic perspective ... rooted in reality.
At the present rate of progress, it is almost impossible to imagine any technical feat that cannot be achieved - if it can be achieved at all - within the next few hundred years.

Tao-te Ching: When everybody in the world understands what beauty is good, then ugliness exists. Thus, wisdom does it's work without action and gives us teaching without words.

How very paltry and limited the normal human intellect is, and how little lucidity there is in the human consciousness, may be judged from the fact that, despite the ephemeral brevity of human life, the uncertainty of our existence and the countless enigmas which press upon us from all sides, everyone does not continually and ceaselessly philosophize, but that only the rarest of exceptions do. --Arthur Schopenhauer::::: Dwight.

Confusedly, and which thus must ever fight,
Unless the almighty maker them ordain,
His Dark Materials to create more worlds,
Into this wild abyss the wary feind,

pondering his voyage.
