I just thought it would be interesting for people to say how they are going to celebrate their Christmas this year, especially those from other countries. If you don't do anything or your country doesn't celebrate christmas put that too...

On the first day of Christmas.....tommorow! Well Sam this year my wife and dog and I will go to the inlaws to celebrate the 25th. If we get really lucky and get snow this year at sea level, it is fairly customary for us to go roll up a snow man. Otherwise, we usually go on a rampage around the house playing with all our new gifts, swillin drinks, and sittin in the hot tub. Boxing day and new years wedo it all over again. Cheers:-)

the way that we celebrate Christmas, is that we have a lot of traditions during this time of the year. we always go to the Midnight Mass at our church, so we don't have to get up on Christmas morning to go to church. then we come back home, and me and my sister always get to open one present on Christmas Eve. then we usually go visit family somewhere and we get more present from there. we just finished decorating our tree, so the next step is all the gifts that i have to buy.

we don't put up a tree, and we don't put up much decorations becuase of what we believe, but we will have a nice quiet family dinner and of course the kids will get thier presents, then we will spend the day reflecting on Jesus, because that is what christmas is right, no Jesus no christmas ;-)

That's true up to a point, Holleyk, but at the end of the day Christmas, like so many religious festivals, is merely a hijacked pagan celebration.

Sure, they pegged Jesus' name onto it and pretended that he was born then, but it's actually a celebration of the fact that the nights are now gradually getting shorter. Festivities have been held at this time of year for a long time before Christians latched onto it.

I personally find Christmas a little jaded because of the blatant commercialism (and, you guessed it, I'm not Christian). However, it's nice to have a little rest from work. We will doubtlessly have a few drinks and some nice food. The kids will open their presents. I will then paint my face with ancient symbols and dance around naked before sacrificing a virgin. (Ok, so I lied about the last bit).

my holiday is about the food.... well Jesus, too.... Jesus and food..... yeah.... in that order.... Jesus and then food. ...
we celebrate the polish side of my family every christmas. anyone else polish? woot! we grab some stuff called oplatek, which is a waffer, and we break it with family to wish a merry christmas and a happy new year. i look forward to it every year. we get together and eat kielbasa, pierogi, ham, and all that good stuff. we'll open a present or two and go to candle light service at my church. then off to bed. on christmas morning, we eat some more ham and kielbasa and everything from last night because its so flamming good! then more presents. actually... presents first, then food. yeah. definitly that order. then we eat more sporadically through the day, or pack it off to some family's houses and eat there. its all good.
thats about it.gearing up for christmas is fun, too. its called advent and it really gears me up for the big two-five. have a good one. merry CHRISTmas! :)

Well, I guess since I posted this I should put an entry myself before the day has come and gone. It is 7:15 AM on the day of Christmas Eve here. Today I will be finishing up the last of the Christmas shopping (I would have been done but SOMEONE ate a $14 packet of biscotti and broke a brand new coffee cup in the process, not mentioning any names JASMINE...) Then I have to start cleaning the house and cook the first ever Turkey I have done in my life for Dinner tonight. My partners father, sister and brother and two nephews will be coming over here tonight, then tomorrow we will head over to their place for Christmas lunch where there will be much unwrapping. Then everyone comes back here again for a swim in our pool (which I'm sure by this time will be greatly welcomed). So basically Christmas for me is about family, having finally outgrown the need for pressies... well, maybe 1 or 2 :-)

Obviously I will be very busy today, I don't know if I will log on between now and boxing day so let me just wish you all a happy christmas, have a great day and I look forward to seeing you all (in a sense) in the new year.

My kids will spend the night of the 24th with their mom for a traditional Swedish Christmas (Santa Lucia and goose dinner with lots of schnaaps). Then the kids join me on the morning of the 25th for a large brunch and exchange of gifts. Our two pugs, Duke and Earl, will get their own stockings stuffed with goodies.
