I feel the "City" category doesn't accurately represent all photos that may be placed in there. I have a picture from Monhegan Island of several buildings. I would call that a town at most, a village most accurately. As of now, that image is still in the "New Images" section, but it has 8 votes and a c-index of 82 so it will most likely become a permanent image. I don't feel people will be looking for that type of picture when they search the city category. I think one of two things should be done: 1) Add to the category name - "City/Town" or 2) Make a separate "Town" category.
Thanks for your time. And thank you if you accept either proposal.
there really is no need for that as there is a seperate gallery for architecture that would accomodate the odd building or two...
its best to keep the navigation as simple as possible i feel without delving into the semantics of gallery name definitions and getting too pedantic about it. I mean look how confused folks got when Caedes asked them to draw a frog...
I think at least adding a slash town would improve the category. I mean, the biggest city in my state has about 65,000 people. I live in the capital and we only have 18,500. Now, when I think "City" I think New York or Chicago or some place with a lot of skyscrapers, light pollution, and people walking around. If I were to take a picture from some place like Houlton, Maine (WAY up north), I doubt anyone would be expecting that in the "City" category.
Or slap some graffiti on the frogs. Where I live four or five buildings over three stories IS a city.
The image You're talking about Michael seems to belong more in the landscape catagory to me with it's green land, stony ground, and view to the horizon. Of course, some would argue for the Water as well.........
