I dont often take many flower based shots but I thought this one turned out OK, obviously I was mistaken so any useful pointers as to what I should be looking for when composing a flower close up would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Phil, for me there is not one thing that grabs my eye...there are many things so I find it a little hard to stop wandering around the image. Definitely a tighter crop would bring more attention to the flower in the middle. If the flowers that are in focus were closer to each other that would help the composition. I have a hard time with these shots...flowers never seem to be in the right position, I suppose that is why we are drawn to bouquets of them;-)
Hi Phil...first, the image has great quality and color and clarity. I agree there is not a focus point. The left side of the image just sort of looks like you 'missed' as in bad composition. I would go for just one of those flowers as delicate as they are. I really don't shoot bouquets of flowers :) because I cannot find a focal point myself!
I find myself wanting to be able to see the detail better ( as in closer to my eyes) on the flower closest to the right edge of your image. Hope this helps you. I love flower captures :~)
cheers - Phil
