Ok, I know Regmar is from New Orleans, but I don't know who else is from the areas that Katrina hit, so, if you are, please check in here and let us know that you are safe! For those who have been hit by the hurricane, my prayers are with you and your family. I hope you can get back on your feet, and that your losses are minimal.
Caedes, if you are reading this, is there any way you can type in those states and come up with a general list of our members? I have found relatively little by typing them into the wallpaper search section. Mainly Regmar comes up since he's shared so much of that area with us. Abstract artists, etc. are not likely to show up in that kind of search.
I've actually wondered for some time now if a map like the Around the World Map could be created where we could click to find which members are in that part of the world? For many reasons.
Thanks for starting this post...I too have wondered what other members live down in the hurricane stricken areas, and do hope, where possible, we will get word of their well-being...and BJ, I think that world map idea is GREAT...it would be both interesting to see and helpful at times...hope that could be arranged?.:Pat.

so I'm hearing from a lot of people who haven't been hit by the storm...BUT...has anyone heard from anyone IN the areas hit??? Can we keep this thread open for them to check in, if possible. If anyone hears from someone, but that person isn't able to post, please post for them and let us know they are ok.
Katrina's a grade 5 Hurricane, If she gets back over water she will gain more power again due to convection. Best for her to go in land. As far as I am aware she's heading south towards the Carribean so if thats the case then if you guys know anyone south of North America then you may want to get in touch. Best wishes from the small island across the sea anyway.
Actually it shows the location where photographs were taken, not necessarily where the artist lives. I don't think it would be of much help in this regard.
Nope. None. We just wait. With the rest of many many people. One thing is for sure. If they are avid Caedes neighbors, they will get here to tell us they are okay as soon as they are able.
Guys, not be be mean, but can we please stop spamming this thread. The idea of a map system is great, we all agree, lets leave it at that, and let this thread be for our missing Caedes friends to check in. That was my intention for making this. I just don't wanna sift through everyone debating maps, hoping that somewhere someone checked in. I would like to be able to view this thread and easily spot our missing friends without having to do a lot of searching on the thread first. I apologize if this sounds rude, but I am worried. Can we please make a different thread to debate maps or whatever?? Thank you for understanding.
I got an e mail from FEMA. the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Calif OES has learned that trapped victims are calling friends and loved ones asking to be rescued. These calls need to go immediately to US Coast Guard's Rescue Line at 1-800-323-7233 and assistance will be sent. The message will also give information on how to notify Lousiana State Police officials. This number is legitimate as it is a governmental notice.
Akashastrega.. they were not spamming the discussion they were trying to find out how many of our members are in that particular area by the way of the map... it wasnt a debate..
Thanks for the link, Tracy...was looking for something like that...you really get a sense of the widespread devastation looking down from space....here are a couple websites that may be useful or of interest:
www.nola.com
www.craigslist.org
www.cnn.com....(they have a national next of kin registry and a
safe list to report you are safe.)
akashastrega, your idea is a sound one but if noone posts on this thread it will swiftly disappear off the bottom of the discussion board. When our friends check in, they won't see it. I'm sure they are aware anyway that we will be worried and will probably post a thread of their own when they can. In the meantime, we'll have to hope they're ok.

Some of bayouboogers family lives in Louisiana...I think he did say they are doing ok...but checking with him would be good..I think this is a great idea to run this thread also. We are friends here...maybe some of you can get in touch with local people who are taking trucks down there with clothing and canned goods. We have that going on in ORegon..Im working on mine(Imean my bags and boxes of thing that will help) and it at least feels that i can help in some small way. Some of the banks here are taking all sorts of donations of items needed and there are trucks heading that way. Puter networking for this time of disaster will help in some way I am sure of that...
i have family all over the la-ms gulf coast, all survived...nawlins looks terrible and it will take years to bring it back, but the ms-ala gulfcoast was utterly devastated. anyone with relatives in the ms gulfcoast area can get a lot of info and videos here.

Ponchatoula is the only Regmar Hanemann I found in Louisiana. And, I believe he commuted to work in Baton Rouge. I'd have to double check that (BR) again. Sent the info to either Pat or DJ earlier.
Metairie is part ot the New Orleans metro area.. from what i know, Reg lived in the metro area and drove to Baton Rouge for work.. but still no word from him yet.. tho im sure he was able to make it out of the city..
There seems to be a few Hanemann's in that area. I even found a Regmar Hanneman who died in 2003, so there may be other Regmar Hanemanns. I also found a reference to a Regmar Hanneman who married last year and lived in Metairie, which is to the west of the 17th street canal - the sat pictures seem to suggest that Metairie avoided the worst of the floods.

thats most likely him Matthew.. one of the images in his gallery mentions a fiance.. and tho im not positive, im pretty sure he said Metairie.. thing is tho.. phone lines are still screwed up all over the state.. and his number would be a New Orleans area number.. those are surely not going to work for some time ;\\ just gotta hope he can find a way on here and let us know he is ok..
Yes, he was married last year. I only looked as far as the white pages and that only brought up one. Could even be an old one. That, and I don't know how private he wanted things so I was hesitant to go further accepting that he will get here alot quicker than we could probably find him. ;( My apologies if I've confused anyone. I'll go back into my board lurker mode.
Yes, thanks for that additional info on Regmar...that was my hope, to have an idea of what part of NO he lived in so as to get an idea of how much damage his area might have suffered...but let's hope he did in fact get out ok...his site remains down and I checked one of the sites to see if his name was on a survivor's list but it wasn't...not knowing is a continuing concern.:Pat.
Just updating my earlier post...Regmar logged in a few moments ago!...sent him a PM to extend our concern and relief in knowing he was safe...asked him to post and let us know how things are when time permits...he wasn't on too long then gone again but at least we now know he is ok!.:Pat.
