Bad Americans-what do you think?

I would like to know what Americans and non-Americans think of this by George Karlin

Yes, Im a Bad American
I am your worst nightmare. I am a bad American. I am believe the money that I make belongs to me and my family, not some mid levelgovernmentalfunctionary either Republican or Democratic. Im in touch with my feelings and I like it that way, *mn it. I think owning a gun doesnt make you a killer, it makes you a smart American. I think that being a minority doesnt make you noble or victimized because of color or race and doesnt make you entitled to more than the next guy. I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, try your best to speak enough English that I can understand you. I think fireworks should be legal on the 4th of July. I think being a student doesnt give you any more enlightenment than working at Blcokbuster if you dont apply yourself using your knowledge. In fact, if your parents are footing the bill to put you through 4 plus years of college, you havent even begun to be enlightened. I believe that everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where ever they want to. My heros are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, and whoever got rid of Jerry Springer. I dont hate the rich, I dont pity the poor. I know wrestling is fake and dont waste time arguing the point. I think global warming is a big lie. Where are all those experts now when I am freezing my *ss off during these long winters and paying more and more? Ive never owned a slave nor have I been one. I didnt wander forty years in the desert after getting chased out of Egypt. I havent burned witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have most of us. Sho shut the *ell up already. I want to know which church it is exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson practices, where he gets all his money, and why he is always a part of the problem and not ever the solution? Can I get an AMEN on that brother? I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry *ss if you are running from them or threatening them. They are grossly underpaid and they put their lives on the line daily to protect us. I also think that they have the right to pull over your *ss if youre breaking the law, regardless of what color you are. And, no, I dont maind having my face on my drivers license to prove my identity. Im proud that God is written on my money. I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works I dont want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next 4 years. I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me crap or trying to guilt me into making " donations" to the cause. When I see them at a 7-11 minutes later buying beer inside and God knows what else outside the store. I beleive that it doesnt take a village to raise a child. It takes two parents together or not to beleive in whats best for the child. And what the *ell is going on with the gas prices....again???How many more times...get the gas elsewhere....If this makes me a Bad American, then yes I am one.

That ones been around for a long time now. It's been attributed to Carlin, Dennis Miller, Ted Nugent, and Charlie Danniels. All of whom have denied any part in it. It's still the lead headline on Carlins home page.

Some of it is all right, some of it is just cold

Yeah, this just about sums it up. I dont agree with him on every single detail but this is a man who knows the deal. People have to stop whining and start doing something to change whatever kind of situataion they are in. Whether its your fault or not, whether you think someone else is to blame, or just society in general, the only person who can change it is YOU.

I put up this writing for feedback. It is not my personal creed. My heros are every day ordinary people who have overcome extraordinary circumstances. I do believe that John Wayne was one of the last of the real manly men though. I do love Blockbuster and go there 2-3 times a week. I obey the law. I paid for my own college thank you. I love wrestling. I believe if you acknowledge your higher power it doesnt necessarily have to be in a church with other people. I dont carry guns these days although there was a time I had a 357 and Colt 45. I love cultural diversity and like I said, It was there for opinions and feedback and not to make people angry or hateful. Dont be a hater!!!

Well , i'm not an amarican .
But i don't see why beeing able to think for yourself makes you bad.Everyone is entiteld to their own opinion. wheter you agree with it or not.The fact alone that you think about these things gives you the right to question them. But when you make statments like these you also have an obligation to be a part of the solution ( even if its in the small thigns like how do you live life )
Now i'm not a big fan of America's gouverment but you have some wonderfull things in your constitution like freedom of speech and freedom for all.
But from where i'm sitting that is gone wrong somewere ; the latest anti-terrorist laws are but 1 example of that.
Well that were my 2 cents on the matter.
i appologize that i can't be as articculate as i would be if this was my native tong (english is a 4 language for me)

I agree with warrior I do not agree with everything Goere Carlin says, but life is what you make it. If you want to live in America land of the free than feel very free to speak english. I also never owned a slave or was one, but my people many years ago helped to free the slaves. No one is really any better than the next, everyone is better at something than the next so that puts us on the same level. An dmost of all George W Bush %ucks he is what is wrong with this country now!

I don't agree with every thing he's say either. His point is that we must take the time to think out what we as people beleave in and if we agree with what we are told is the truth.

Every thing in USA has become a popularity contest in the last 20 years, leaning toward the populer vote and political corrctness.

His main point is, when did it become wrong to stand up for your rights.

When did it become wrong to help those who cannot help themselves??? When did it become wrong to pay your fair share of taxes??
Guns?? Have you ever held a hysterical 10 year old who just killed his best friend, playing with Daddys guns??? I have..
Heros?? I don't have any.. There are none..

Ann:
It’s not wrong to help people Ann, it’s the people that take advantage of the system that cause all of the others to become poor in the process.

Its not wrong to pay taxes, its wrong to pay taxes as the rich are given the breaks that never trickle down the poor. Yet the poor and middle class taxes keep going up.

Its not the guns fault that child was killed, it's the irresponsible fool who was given the gun in the first place and was probably never trained to use the gun safely and to store it out of reach behind a lock.

Hero's: yes there are hero's Ann. There not the ones in top government, they are not the actors who claim to come to the rescue of a disaster for a photo opp. They are the ones who do there job with out falter and care for the outcome of whet they do, a single parent is a hero, a fire fighter is a hero, the person who walks your child across a busy crosswalk before and after school is a hero and yes they are all un-thanked hero's.

Hero's are the people in every day life who choose to stand against the system to say it's wrong. Its the people who say no when the rest of us are to afraid or ashamed to fight for the right to say no to a system where we are lost in the numbers. The ambulance driver who saves the life of a star or politician that only makes $12.00 an hour and never is thanked for saving there life is a hero. Don't tell me you have no hero’s dear, you just have to look around and see them. There not always there when you need them put there around.

Lets start with;
Point 1.. I have seen so many who cant't get help because the system doesn't give them enough to go to school and get out of the rut they are in.. I have known very few who abuse the system.. I All the people that I have known did everything they could do to get off welfare.. firmly believe that was nothing but hype..

Point 2.. I din't say the poor should carry the burden of the taxes.. What I did say was fair share.. That means those who have moren pay more.. The richest pay the most.. Not the way the system works now.. Our system is so corrupt is has gone beyond ridiculous..

Point 3.. The gun that killed that little boy belonged to a police officer.. It was his son who pulled the trigger.. The kids got the gun out of alocked box hidden under teh bed inthe parents bedroom.. They picked the lock.. They got the idea from watching kids tv shows..

Point 4... Lets see.. That ambulance driver lives across the street from me.. He ties his dog outside all day and lets it bark.. He has loud parties till the wee hours of the morning.. No, no matter how much good he does on the job.. He isn't a hero..

Wait till you have lived as long as me and seen what I have seen.. Then tell me what you just have..

I have to say, I agree quite a bit with the statement. Not all, but a lot of it. I agree that you shouldn't be given things, or victimized, based on race. I agree that going to school doesn't make you smart if you don't apply yourself. If I visit a different country, I would try to communicate as best as possible in their native tongue, so have the respect to speak English in America, and if you don't know how, at least try.I agree that if you don't know how to work the voting ballot, don't make the decision as to who will run the country. Ann, I'm sorry that you seem so jaded, so let me tell you about one of my heroes. My cousin is an emt in Detroits inner city. He has been shot at trying to save someone...each day, he goes back to work. That is a hero. The doctors that worked tirelessly to save my life when I went into respiratory arrest...who didn't give up on me despite my flatlining...they are my heroes. My mom who was a single mother working 3 jobs to support her kids when her SOB ex husband refused to pay support...she is my hero. Personally, I don't think you are better than me because you are richer than me. I have no problem paying taxes if the uber-rich didn't get such great tax breaks. So maybe I am a bad American, or maybe I just am brave enough to speak my own mind, own my opinions, and not always be politically correct. Personally, I think the whole P.C. movement has made zombies out of us...I think its ok to not always agree...or if I do, I agree because it is how I REALLY feel. I think this was a good post, makes you think.

None of you are hearing what I am saying.. I am not richer than you.. Not living on SSI.. When I did have money, I never resented paying my fair share of taxes.. I think the rich get to many breaks.. I thiink the corporations got too many breaks.. You bet I am jaded.. I have seen just how corrupt this country has become for right wing politicaly correct politics and I am sick if it.. This will be my last post in this thread.. I will not have my words twisted into something I didn't say..If you can't take what I have written and read it right, then I have no interest in talking to you.. I invite anyone of you to come and walk in my shoes.. Try it for a month and see how you look at the world..

Ann, please don't think I have not had a difficult life...you and I have compared notes enough to know. I was simply trying to point out that not everyone is great, but that there ARE still heroes in this world and not to let the past keep you from seeing them and appreciating them when they are there for you (I hope that came out right). I have had enough bad stuff happen to be "gunshy" or jaded, but I guess I have known enough people in my life who have been there when help was desperately needed. I was not trying to twist your words, rather it was my intention to give a ray of hope, that there are good people around us. I live on SSI, and know how difficult a fixed income is. I was saying that someone richer than me, is not better than me just because they have more than I do. I agree that the uber-rich get too many breaks, and I think I said that. I also think I said that I hate the politically correct movement. So perhaps I am a bit confused by your last posting. I agree with you. I was simply trying to point out that there are still heroes and not to give up hope.

If me and Georgy boy were to bump into each other in a pub and these views were not apparent and we started to chat the words Kyoto & Bush would soon fly out of my mouth. 26 Billion tonnes of Co2 Are put into the atmosphere by North America alone a year more than the rest of us together. Greenhouse gas (moron), read a book and you would understand. People of this denomination are heretics in their own right as they are so outside of normality and humanity they deserve to be shot. Being shot would save time as they would not want to change or be re-educated so why waste our time ?????????????? Oooohhhhh bit of emotion with this thread. Parents breed problems, I guarantee George is not the only one and that is what is so disturbing.

You know, I think the point that Geoge Carlin is making is to think for ourselves. I am a granola eating, tree hugging, whale saving woman. BUT I am not what can be called politically correct. If I don't agree with you, I'll say it, and if you wanna argue, my attitude is go F yourself. I am entitled to my opinions, and they may not always be the popular opinion, but...
opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one, and sometimes they stink.
That's life.
I happen to agree on a lot of points with G. Carlin. I'm sick of not being able to wear multi-colored clothes because the Rainbow would mean I'm gay. Yet if I say, I'm straight, then somehow I'm gay-bashing. Hello!!! For the record, I'm a Fag-Hag...yes, I said the other F word...may gay friend calls me that, hmm...
Gotta love political corectness...NOT
