An oldie but a goodie. I'll think of something specific and you need to ask me questions to discover what it is. I can only answer yes, no or irrelevant. For those who don't know it, the idea is to start out with fairly broad questions and work your way down to specific ones. The idea is to guess within 20 questions, but we'll keep going until soemone guesses correctly (then they think of a new one). Guesses as to what the object is also count as a question used up.
1. Yes, sometimes makes a sound. I would say no, people do not generally depend on it for survival, but in some cases they might. It would not be something you would think of as a life saving thing.
Not that close, sadly. Nothing's clicking with all the answers so far.
The first one requires power of some sort to work. And if you used it at a party, it would be antisocial, so it can't be light or electricity.
It can't be water because neither are reflective. And I don't see how it could be pipes, as it's neither bigger nor smaller than a bread box!
Maybe you'd use (2) at a party if it was a particular kind of party... that makes me think of Tupperware, but Tupperware isn't a fragile outdoorsy thing! Unless you're thinking of Les and his trail mix on a picnic.
Having the TV on and watching it during a party could be considered antisocial (1st item - some sort of Roku device, with the 2nd item being the satellite dish).
So, yeah.. bit of a wild guess.
And..
Depending on the answer.. will go back to ascertain just how the two items interact.
1 - Could be bigger than a breadbox; requires power; not found outdoors; not used a parties; can make a sound sometimes; not used for survival; not used more by either gender; not fragile; not reflective; not alive; it is a network or system of something; not a satellite dish; not a boombox; does not communicate with the second item.
Reminder: You need to think outside the box a bit to get this "item".
2 - Can be either bigger or smaller than a breadbox; does not require power; found outdoors (also indoors); generally not used at parties but there is an exception, at a certain time of year... ; does not make a sound; not used for human survival; not generally associated with a particular gender; is (very) fragile; not reflective; not alive; is a network or system of something.
I am trying to locate my mind.. and am having difficulty.
Ok, hang on..
... ...
Since this question/subsequent answer was 'hot'..
Question: "Is it a network or system of something?"
Answer: "Yeeeeeessss..... for both.... Getting very close now I think..."
network ... noun: network; plural noun: networks
1. an arrangement of intersecting horizontal and vertical lines. synonyms: web, lattice, net, matrix, mesh, crisscross, grid, reticulum, reticulation; plexus "a network of arteries"
system ... noun
1. a set of connected things or parts forming a complex whole, in particular.
... ...
My pea is grasping at the possibility of item 2 being a string of lights or something. And going back to the question of; "Does the item require any assembly to be put into place?"
Funny where our minds go.. 'cause, with you stating that the two items are related.. my mind, anyways, immediately went to electronics, possibly pc related.
That aside..
Going to enjoy a victory lap before tackling item 1. As nothing is coming to mind as yet.
Or, perhaps more appropriately.. tried to channel my inner Samatar.
Item 1: "1 - Could be bigger than a breadbox; requires power; not found outdoors; not used a parties; can make a sound sometimes; not used for survival; not used more by either gender; not fragile; not reflective; not alive; it is a network or system of something; not a satellite dish; not a boombox; does not communicate with the second item."
And..
"1 is directly related to 2 (spider web)."
So..
First had to google to see if what I thought 1 could be (there are a few possibilities or variations of) was in anyway harmful or disturbing to pets (that would be your beloved Beagle).
Apparently, safe.
What's a spider web do, for the most part?
Traps insects for the spider to eat/consume. Or, in other words.. insects that could be potential "pests" to a homeowner.
Not as in, portable TV portable (small enough to be conveyed around, but, typically fixed in position).. more like camera portable. Or, say.. an umbrella.
Hmmmm.. this could mean, "warm getting hot".. or.. the sound is inconsequential. Kinda, sorta.. since it could also point to some sort of mechanical operation or otherwise significant, but, not necessarily intended noise as a primary function of the item.
Decisions, decisions..
Does the item produce sound as an intended feature?
1. a tool, utensil, or other piece of equipment, especially as used for a particular purpose. "agricultural implements" synonyms: tool, utensil, instrument, device, apparatus, gadget, contraption, appliance, machine, contrivance; informal gizmo; equipment, kit, tackle, accoutrements, paraphernalia "garden implements"
... ...
Only in the loosest sense of the above definitions.. but, I think it would be misleading to answer; "Yes".. so..
