OK guys, I just heard this morning that she hit and has done substantial damage. re-flooding in new orleans, or at least part of it.It went down to a category two but its still rolling. I know we all were hoping for the best with this one, but it looks like its gonna be pretty bad. EVERYONE should go donate to the relief effort here -> http://www.redcross.org/ It doesnt matter if it's only 5 bucks, it will help. Im sure after all this is over and things are starting to be rebuilt we can have fun bashing Bush for whatever screw ups he is bound to make, lets just pray they wont be too debilitating to the people who are actually going to work thier asses off to bring America back on its feet.

I have given blood, and donated clothing. As for Bush bashing, I am not one of his fans, but somehow I think we won't be able to bash as much on Rita. Perhaps the government from local, state, and national learned their lesson from the tragedy of Katrina.
I agree, the Red Cross needs help...for those inclined to help the homeless animals, there are many organizations that would love a donation, starting with the SPCA and ARF.
Besides the Red Cross, there is the Salvation Army and the United Way that will also be helping and could sure use any donations.

Texas is Bush country so he will make sure things are handled quickly. Also we have learned from Katrina who we can rely on and who we cant rely on. I vividly remember the image of a dog sitting on the porch with water inches below him, faithfully awaiting for his owners return. I wish someone could bring food for the animals and care for them but I know that the people have priority now. We cant place too much value on " the things" in life as these people can tell you, when the things are gone, it boils down to WHO is left and that is family and other caring people. It restores my faith in mankind when I see how ages, races and political beliefs can be set aside and we can all come together when we need to.

i just got off the phone with my roommate, who happens to be going thru New Orleans rite this minute (6:42pm EST) and he told me there are massive amounts of helicopters going in and out of the city, working on the levees.. i think things will be handed much better this time around, due to the fact that noone wants to get caught with their pants down again.. all we can do is hope..
