Most popular downloads?

Would it be possible to have a category under the Galleries for most popular downloads or something to that effect?

What would be the use of this? Explain your idea a bit better.

It seems to me that the only purpose this might possibly have is to act as a ego stroking exercise. Definitely not a good idea.

Seeing as the images that have been on the site the longest will be the images featured, you might just as well sort the galleries by date.

this would be a major step backwards and inevitably just lead back to bickering, whining and complaints of devisive elitism. again.

I actually told Caedes about an idea I had about having like a billboard list of names from like 1-50, of the most downloaded images, but as I thought about it, it might just cause fights, look at the C-Index, a number that appears on everyone's image and everyone makes a big deal and gets all mad when they get a low vote so having something like that would just cause problems.

My point exactly. This will only feed those ego's and put us back to square one with all the problems related to it.

I hadn't thought about those kinds of problems. I used to have Webshots and they have this kind of category. The thing I liked about it was that it helps to narrow down the pictures to the best ones so that there are not so many to look through when looking for pictures to download.

Try sorting according to C-index. That might help, although the C-index ratings are currently undergoing changes, and will take time to reflect most accurately.

Okay, I'll try that. I'm new to this website and wasn't familiar with the C-index.

No problem. The C-index is the rating system used here. In any case most of the images in the permanent galleries are excellent, so you can't go wrong there.

I find nothing wrong with it, but some people might be sensitive to the idea. I think it would be pretty interesting.

Could be handy- maybe a search option or sort option would do the same without the bickering? *crosses fingers* rofl

People who vote zero's should have the artwork replaced with blurry pictures of homework for everyone else to vote on. 8)

Actually there already is a gallery that displays only the best images on the site, I'm not sure why caedes hasn't added a link in the navigation bar yet... anyway, you can look at it here.

I had a look, but it only seems to link to your gallery - clearly some error! ;¬{>

There used to be an image ranking list that you could sort by c-index, downloads, views, etc. but luckily it disappeared some time ago. I don't think it will be resurrected again.
