Don’t you hate it when they do that? It wouldn’t be so bad if they waited until you got some use out of it.

Clayton - where did you see those specs? only things I can find are: Nikon D200: 10.2 Megapixels, 5 FPS for $1,699.95 - not a 12.3

heres a screenshot of the d200 microsite that appeared briefly on the Nikon website.

and that price is apparently after a rebate.

It's only going to go for $1699.99 US dollors. And thats fairly low for a camera of the quality and abilities.

well the anticipated launch date (the 31st) has come and gone without so much as a peep. It's looking more and more like Nikon have been caught fully on the hop with this one. Im still more inclined to believe the 10.2MP spec - I cant believe that Nikon would drop the D2X sensor into a camera a third of its price - it makes no commercial sense at all. If this is the case it would seam the very aggresive pricing would be to compensate for its shortfall in expectations but as we found out last time on the Canon rumour mill - anything can happen :-)

well here it is - a day late but hey!

Ta Da!

and luckily for you - it is only the lower spec 10.2MP model as was leaked earlier this month so dont feel so bad about that Canon purchase anymore...:-)

Whilst it undoubtedly seams to be a fine piece of kit, I think Mr.Rockwell is being a little bold gushing so much about a camera he has neither seen in the flesh or handled/tried or indeed seen any results from. There are many similarities on paper between the 200 and the D2X but declaring it to be at least 90% of the camera the D2X is sounds rash. Time will tell I guess but I’m sure it would be a worthy upgrade to your D70 if the trade in price was right. Will be interesting to see how Canon responds. They have already reduced the price of the 5D by over £500 since its launch a short while ago and it would be reasonable to surmise it will drop even further to blur the lines between it and the new d200. Let the fun begin :-)
