it would be nice some kind of caffe time in caedes.net. you know, pick time, pick few images, and talk about them, talk about new photography skills...this would great too.....but your r the boss...:)
Any suggestions are more than welcome,my friends?
I don't want to take this too far off-topic but your "caffe time" notion gave me an idea. It sounds sort of like a book club, everybody's putting their own perspective on the same item. The question is, how do you pick the images? The answer is simple, you incorporate it into the 'Artist of the Week', say 3 images per week. The artist of each week selects one of his/her own images and two from elsewhere on the site. Then you put a 'Caedes Cafe' section at the bottom of each artist of the week's bio where people can visit any of the 3 chosen images and leave their comments. That way, in addition to getting increased feedback on his/her gallery, he/she can pick one image that he/she desires the most feedback on, and then two of his/her other favorites from around the site to spotlight that week.
As for your original idea Brix, I think it has been discussed before in other forums but to no real end. It is a major undertaking with a lot of factors to consider but like you said, nothing is impossible :)
Hi BRIX. Although I am very flattered that you think so I am not the boss ;-) Only one guy can claim that title... your ideas all sound great to me and I have no problem with you going ahead with them. As I have pointed out before, there is no reason why "ordinary" members can't initiate these things themselves; if, after you have sorted out the details, you need some sort of hep fro above, I'm sure caedes or whoever will be happy to help; but for example, for artist of the week, I required no mod powers or otherwise to get started. Just posted on the discussion board and posted a news item, which ANYONE can do. BTW I recall that the idea for a gallery showing has been put forward before and got some way to being a reality, but seemed to die off. Obviously this requires a bit more organisation (and money) than AOTW or a simple contest, but it would be great if it could happen...
They are already on the Internet, though. Most people use the Internet these days, and those who don't are probably not the types who go to art museums on a regular basis because they're either in retirement homes or small towns, or something like that.
This could actually be a great idea for a rather "strange" art exhibition. Instead of having printed versions of the images you could have a few PC's that display the images on LCD screens mounted on walls. Most people will have access to these already, and the costs involved wouldn't be as high as having to have prints made.
Also a very cool idea would be for people that own a store or place of business in a shopping mall or such with a display window, have a LCD setup to display the images in a loop.
Ooh I like that idea. It would attract tech heads maybe, as well as art lovers. Still tricky to get it organised. I am all for the featured image "Coffee time" idea. My concept would be that the AOTW chooses three images (preferrably in different mediums or different concepts) and there would be a link to them somewhere on the site. Brix this should be easy enough to organise once you iron out the details; all you would need to do is PM the artist, and then set up the links in the appropriate place. Of course if your vision is different to mine, it's your baby; you set it up the way you want.
I like how samatar said: " My concept would be that the AOTW chooses three images (preferrably in different mediums or different concepts) and there would be a link to them somewhere on the site."
I think the coffee time is a good idea. But a 'reality' exposition would be a huge undertaking. We all live in different parts of the world, and it would be difficult to not only get it organized but financially..well, who'se got that kind of money. For a long time I belonged to a Poetry Room online...and they actually set up a Gallery of sorts of peoples artwork. This was a Poetry 3D Forum...it's actually still going, although I dont visit it much..but you can take the "person" you are...which is just a 3D image, and you can walk thru the Gallery, or Expo...and see framed photos, or artwork by many artists. IT was fun to look at them that way. Because it helps us to "see" our creations from an art gallery viewpoint..it kind of motivates and inpires. So if you can get something like that together, that would be fun. Of course we dont have the 3D thing, but we could have it.. (The one I belong to is called "Spiral Matrix")...a very interesting place. The photos or paintings or fractals etc. could be on display with whoever chooses or be chosen for their photos of the week per se' and then it could be changed or enlarged in time. Its something to think about. And if we all put our heads together we might be able to come up with something very workable. Might be a bit of fun. I know it has made things a lot more interesting here to have the Artist of the Week. I am really anxiously awaiting the next one. ITs so nice to get to know these ones better. I find myself looking over their galleries more too . I do wish we had maybe two other people as "runners up" lol..that way we would have more to see of peoples interests etc. ITs nice to see everyone take more of an interest...caedes is certainly becoming real "cozy community"...I like it.
I like all the suggestions so far, though I think any physical exhibition would be too expensive and would reach a limited audience.
Heres another idea to kick around. What about an option under your Caedes Control panel to nominate an image for coffee time? The most popular nominations get picked and each image can only be featured once so we don’t see the same one’s all the time.
How about something called Caedes Coffee Table? in other words..at the caedes coffee table we can post interesting new items..maybe things related to what we used to call in Germany a "Kaffe Klatch"...or "coffee club" but it was there to discusss things or have fun. I like trisberts idea and also what torque has said..
I'm not sure how 'meaningful' it would be for such a display to be made.. I can see maybe if someone was in business selling art and wanted to do something like this, but what would really be the point? It would maybe be fun to do, but if it involved money and extensive planning, I don't think it'd be worthwhile.
Why are you pouting in the corner? .. why are you playing with the thread name? .. you put forth an idea and it didn't meet with great success ... Maybe it will next time
But....but.....but......this thread doesn't even have a name !!! How'll it go to school ?! All the other threads will make fun of it, it'll be scarred emotionally & probably grow up to be seriel killer. Now just LOOK what you've done !!
Innocent threads lost....& it could have so easily been avoided... ( shakes head sadly )
