I'm always looking for away to quit my job and become an internationaly renowned painter.. and while im dreaming of this and wondering why i spent 3 years at university studying fine art.. im also looking for practical ways to make myself a little spare change..( comfort money instead of just survival money as mopst of my wages seems to be ).. ive been looking at the deviant-prints site to this end..

anyone else had any experience of the setup? ( like the big boss man and his poster ) how well does it work out? if youve got any bad/good or ambivalent opinions of the site, please share them with me. And would any of my caedes work make a viable images that people might want as a wall hanging print?

My guess is that only one person actually makes enough money from DA-prints to live off of. That person would be Jasinski, and even he probably doesn't make a killing. From the caedes.net poster we net'ed about $100.

From what I have seen there is just too much content on that site, basically anyone can put anything they want up for sale... so you would have to wade through heaps of crap to find anything decent. This would also mean you have an enourmous amount of competition. As caedes said the poster only made a small amount (and most of that would have come from this site, not traffic on the Deviant site) and yet it was in their "Top seller" list... so I can't imagine anyone could make much money.

hey. i'm looking into this, too. i don't care about making a lot of money, but any little bit helps. i just don't know how to get my stuff up on that site. can anyone help with that?

also, if i do start selling a couple of my better shots, i would like to get a watermark with my name on it so i at least get a little recognition for my work. whats the best way to do that? or do you think it would be better to just stick my name in the corner and be done with it?

i'm a little strapped for cash right now (what with school and books and all) and every little bit helps. thanks people.

The version of Photoshop I have has a watermark plugin with it. I haven't tried using it yet though.
