With two different voting systems, which is the C Index figured off of?

the individual page voting isn't currently factored in .. I believe

Bill Cosby used to do a comedy routine in the 60's about driving a manual shift car in San Francisco .. and coming to a stop sign at the top of a hill .. he felt that a local resident put the sign up there just as a joke to see who he could catch

that's what the voting menu is to me

LOL! Keifer, you've done it again. ....a perfect analogy for the "voting menu," my friend. Thanks yet again for a good laugh! Wen

Well, I haven't been frequenting this site very long, but I don't have the time to vote on pictures where my vote won't be counted anyway. So, I vote in the voting booth when I come here because those votes are counted, but I rarely get the opportunity to vote on images I would like to vote on that way. Instead, I'm shown a lot of random pictures that I would rather not vote on. I sure wish my vote would be counted on the pictures I like. I feel bad for the artists who, based on only 10 or so votes, are getting low c-indexes on pictures I sure think deserve better. But I never seem to get the chance to vote on them. Just my two cents.

Voting mainly on images that you like defeats the purpose. It is a biased sample with questionable usefulness. If you just want to tell someone you like the image them commenting is the way to do that.

Well, I don't agree with you on this point, caedes, but you call the shots here. I visit several art websites and people are not compelled to vote on images they have no opinion on. Instead, they are allowed to skip images and only vote on those that they choose to vote on, including those that they really don't like, which is what I was getting at. I'm being asked to vote on pictures I don't have much of an opinion on one way or another here, and I rarely get the chance to vote on images that I really do have an opinion on. For example, I'm just not into flowers, yet I long ago lost count of how many flower pictures I've been asked to vote on here. It isn't that the pictures are bad, it's that I just don't care for them, and I really don't want to vote on them, but I can't proceed with voting on other images unless I give flower pictures a score. In my opinion, such votes aren't very reliable, even though you seem to think they should be. In fact, in all honesty, I often feel irritated in the voting booth because I have to vote on so many images that I'd rather not try to evaluate. As a result, I'm choosing not to vote at all more and more because I keep getting many images I'd rather not rate. As for commenting, I do comment, but I think it's too bad that I can't vote on the images I comment on and have those votes count. Sunny

Well, one of the reasons I brout up this question is how the C index can fluctuate without any new vote? I noticed it again today with 3 of my submissions. Is there another factor involved with the C index?

No other factors. However it is relative to the scores of the other images on the site. So if one images moves above it then it will have to move down.
