Well it appears that suggestions are no longer an option around here. I thought this site was about promoting and encouraging excellence. But I guess it is no longer appropriate have a discussion or make suggestions about the voting process. I could understand it if I was being negative, condescending, or harsh. But I have trouble when a legitimate thread is sent into oblivion without a reasonable explanation. I for one do not appreciate being dismissed without even an explanation. I believe that this attitude will do more to damage this web site then any number of discussions about voting. If this is truly a community the ongoing discussion should be part of it. During the whole voting change I was ill and missed most of the discussions that went on. So I am less then amused when I am treated with open disrespect for trying voice a legitimate concern. In the past when I had the funds available I’ve tried to support this site however if the treatment of members doesn’t change I may decide to remove my Photos and post elsewhere. Here is my original post just so those of you who get to see this can see what I am speaking to.

Your concerns were noted and then the discsussion was closed, probably to prevent it from becoming yet another rant on the c-index which as everyone is well aware has been discussed to death. If you want to read them they are there in the graveyard for everyone including you to read. There comes a certain point at which enough is enough and personally I believe that point was reached months ago. Your opinion hasn't been censored, it is there for all to read. Anyone who logged into the chatroom would be able to see immidiately for themselves that there was a new post in that forum and read it if they wished. caedes also informed you that he will take your suggestions into consideration; I hardly see how this could be considered a "dismissal". Nor has your post been sent "into oblivion" as you obviously know, since you have linked to it yourself.

Yes but try to post on it. And I have said nothing about the C-Index.

We have an obligation to the site to steer the discussions in a productive direction. Since as you admit, the comment in question was "beating a dead horse" there can be little gained from adding yet another discussion topic on the issue. Imagine if there was a new discussion started each time we deleted an image asking "why was my image deleted?" That would detract from the other discussions and be totally redundant.

Furthermore I must applaud you on your shrewdly multi-pronged effort to change my policies.

1. Threating to not make further financial contributions.

2. Threatening to remove all your images.

3. Threating to leave for another site such as photo.net or deviantart.com.

4. Predicting the suppression of this thread in an pre-emptive effort to prevent such suppression.

I don't think such drama is the best way we can spend the time we have on the site.

The only person that can really act on suggestions is Caedes himself. So if he has read your suggestions there is actually not much need to discuss it further. Everything brought up in your orgininal post has been discussed and then discussed some more.

The reason Caedes moved it to the Elephant Graveyard and prevents posting to it, is that nothing more constructive can come out of it, and to prevent it from becomeing a moaning session for those people that have already complained to their hearts content.

See if I had gotten an explanation before then I may not have protested my first thread being closed. When I was referring to a "Dead Horse" I was only speaking to the fact that I am not fond of the booth and not the changes or observations As to the “threats” about leaving; First I don’t make threats I am not the kind of person who feels the need to bully others around or take his toys and play elsewhere. I was simply stating the facts about how I felt about the way I was being treated and that it appeared that the administration of this site is just dismissing suggestions and discussion because “they are tired of it, threatened by it, don’t like who it is coming from,” etc. You can pick the appropriate answer. When you dismiss someone they way I was you give the impression(s) I listed above. I would still like to know why improvements to the voting booth can’t be discussed. why has this topic become “unproductive” as you stated?

The discussion became unproductive since people kept rehashing the same thing over and over. Something in the line of: "I don't know about fractals, now I'm forced to vote on them" or whatever the reason might be. You can do a search and see the original discussion and you'll see what I mean.

Nothing constructive has really come off all the moaning except the continued repeating of things already said. The new system takes time to start working effectively and the few useful suggestions have been implemented.
These included, to name a few:
*Having the image display in your native resolution
*Showing images you have voted on to allow you to click on them and go post a comment.

So by thinking Caedes is dismmissing you is in error. He said that he has taken note of the points you brought up, and he has. No further need for debate.

See this is the kinda stuff I'm talking about. This is a reasonable response. All most people want is to be shown a little consideration. This explanation shows that you actually read what I posted. When I posted my first thread I felt like I was being treated like a troublemaker/traitor. When all I was doing was trying to convey a point and offer up some suggestions. I had no Idea I could click on the thumbnails and go to the artwork to post a comment. Ya learn something new every day.
