How to Shrink Resolution in Photoshop?

Hi all. Never really bothered uploading photo's I took until now. I'd like to share them with you guys (& girls), but the problem is that I take my pictures in a very high res, something around 2000:1200 or whatever the official resolution is for that size.

Now I have Photoshop, but I can't find where you decrease resolution. Is it under the Image Resize? I don't want to degrade the image. Thanks for any help you might offer in advance. Looking forward to sharing some nice photo's with you all.

Yes .. Image Menu .. Image Size

Sounds like you have a 3 or 3.2 megapixel camera (2048x1536) .. photoshop will default to keeping aspect ratio equal .. so .. set 1600 in the width box and the height should set itself to 1200 (assuming your original is in the proper aspect to hit these numbers)

if not .. then you'll have to do some cropping

Caedes is scripted to ONLY accept certain sizes .. so try to be accurate

also Photoshop has various scaling options now to help maintain and keep detail sharp and smooth depending on your preference when you scale. perhaps the easiest way to keep it looking crisp is to apply a very slight sharpen overall before you reduce the image.

Thanks for the advice guys, sent in two pictures so far. Would love to have you guys take a look at them seeing how you are both fantastic photographers. If you are interested, they are in new photo's and are called, "Grass By The Sea" and "Morning Sunrise" respectively. Thanks for all the help.

I too have problems uploading. Seems the majotiy of my images are either too small (448x299) or too big (2160X1440). I try to use Picassa to resize but they seem to go right back to the original size. Any help for this rookie?

Try out Fastone Photo Resizer. I love it and it's free.
