Hello everybody, I am new to this site and I am deeply in love with it. LOL. I am having problems saving the pictures. Like they have been disabled. What should I do about this? I also cannot right click and set the pictures as my background. But I just want help with the saving issue. Thx so much.

1) Click on the picture you are viewing
2) Right click on the pop-up window
3) Hit "Save file to desktop (or other appropriate destination"!

Yep, you can't save them unless you open them to fullscreen first..;)

I change the name of everyone I save to reflect the Authors name and the title of the image. Just right click then choose save as, then type in the name you want.

I am having trouble saving the pictures too. If I click set as desktop, the picture is there but when I click the next picture as set as desktop then the new picture shows up and no where on my computer can I find the first one I set as desktop. I tried saving it to a wallpaper file as a bmp. No use to browse to that file and try to set it as background because although it says it is there, nothing changes my desktop image. I have windows XP. What am I doing wrong?

When you "set as desktop" it just saves the file as "desktop.jpg" or something in your windows directory. So if you save as desktop again it will just over-right the file. If you want to save them on your disk more permanently then you need to right click the image and choose "save image" (or something like that). Then you'll be able to save it as its real filename and in a location that you want.

I'd appreciate any help with a similar problem. When I click on a photo to get the full screen version, the bottom 10ish% is chopped off. I figured that was because of the presence of my toolbar and maybe the top title bar. I hid my toolbar and was surprised to see the full screen photo window did not have a scroll bar or the ability to stretch the window to see the entire photo. I was using the same resolution for the photo as my monitor is set at, so I'm stumped.

thanks.

If you use your scroll wheel on your mouse or simply left click and hold you can move the fullsize image up and down to view the top and bottom of the image. The images appear the same way on my monitor, but it hasn't bothered me. By the way if you do a right click on the image to save it you will always be downloading the fullsize image. Nothing is cut off. Hope that helps clear things up.

Wheat66 ... Are you talking about your browser window? .. viewing the image in the window your browser opens to display it? .. Some browsers have settings to "virtually' shrink an image for display purposes .. for example ..

you run your screen at 1280x1024 .. but are downloading 1600x1200 .. the browser window will 'magically' keep the image small enough to be seen (and therefore not have a scroll bar) .. but, yet, when you save it .. it's still 16x12

if that's the case .. and you use Firefox for your browser .. Go to Tools\Options .. then .. Advanced\General .. and you will find a check box for this option ..

(*seems to me this is on by default .. but no self-respecting graphics hound would leave it on knowingly*)

If you use IE .. well .. then ... you're on your own .. I haven't used that for at least a year .. but it might have the same deal .. you'll have to look for it

Thanks for the help. You're right that if I right click and do "Save Image As" I get the whole image and setting that saved file as my desktop Background also gives me the whole image (if I hide my taskbar).

But, when I open the image from the Caedes the image appears in a separate window which is maximized. There is a noticable part of the image is missing in that window (depending on the resolution I request). There is no scrolling or maximizing of any type possible that I can figure out. I use Firefox 1.5.0.1 and after lots of experimenting in Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Browsing there is no change.

But I can save the images, so I'm good.

thanks.

Maybe you could just click on a lower resolution if you wanted to view the whole image before you download.

OK .. do you mean .. the image appears to have "Stopped Short" .. ie .. the image thought it was complete and finished early .. and there is, for example, a grey area at the bottom

because this happens in internet communications .. images, or anything for that matter, are broken into 'packets' .. your comp says send me this .. the internet then says ok, I sent some .. your comp says I got that send me more .. this goes on till the image is complete ... but sometimes there is mis-communication and the image will stop early

now .. if you have tried to DL an image and it "stops short" .. THAT copy is in your cache .. and if you try again you are very likely to get the copy from your buffer\cache ... so you'll have to clear your cache and try again

do this .. (if you're game) .. install the firefox extension Fasterfox ... I think, by default, it puts a 'fasterfox' logo down in your status bar (if not ,, go into it's options and turn it on) .. this will give you several 'presets' to improve the throughput of your browser .. and you can go back to 'normal' if you wish

it also gives you a page timer and a "Clear Cache" option close at hand .. the speed improvements might help you .. (most people seem to think so)

Not me though .. in a previous life, as I made my way out of Gomorrah, i stopped to look back ... and I was cursed to using dial-up .. so I only have so much pipeline .. and I think there's a dead rat in there somewhere

note .. if you don't wish to do this .. your "clear cache" button is in .. TOOLS \ OPTIONS \ PRIVACY .. (cache tab) .. there may be a keyboard shortcut for this .. I've never paid attention

ALSO .. you can middle-click (mouse wheel) the image size you desire and firefox will open the image in a new TAB and not that annoying, pesky, maximized window ... if that's not the case .. go into your options and find the "TabBrowsing" preferences (Tab Focus) and set middle-clicked URLS to go to a new tab .. (I'm running the .. Tabbrowser Preferences .. extension ... so I don't remember, now, whether that is a function of firefox or the extension .. ;o) .. )

It does not appear to be a "stopped short" problem nor are there any gray areas. It seems to me merely a window resizing problem. But I'm getting the whole image when right-click and do "Save Image As" so that's good enough. I don't think I'll mess with this anymore. thanks for the help.
