I know this has been touched on before, but I sure would love to see a gallery for art such as sketches//paintings//beadings//hand made fine jewelry//leatherwork//etc etc...anything that is truly artistic...other than photos, fractals etc..I'd love to see some comments on this...I never know what gallery to put pen and ink and pencil drawings. THere are quite a few people in caedes who are so talented with these things. Comments please?
I think it is safe to say that pen and pencil et al, could certainly be placed within the 'Illustrations' galleries.
One of my favourites is "The Creator's Apprentice," by nmsmith. And his daughter's work is equally accomplished ... or closing in fast on dad ;) . There are many, many other astounding pieces there as well. Well worth checking out.
As far as hand made jewelry and so on, on that ... I am not sure. I have seen images posted that were of the types of 'crafts' that you mention, for lack of a better word. And in various galleries. Examples of beautiful glasswork for instance.
Annnd ... finally, trying to be too many things to many people is a recipe for problems. Extrapolate a little and imagine the discussions as to how to 'judge' these items. They will ultimately be in in the form of a photographic nature for presentation, right or left? 'Nuff said.
Good idea, as you are absolutely correct that talent abounds in the membership. However, practical for the medium? Hmm, perhaps ... perhaps not.
No, I think she meant was something that doesn't have resolution sizes for desktops, like uploading images that might be 775x1000, is that what you meant Verena?
Pen & ink, paintings, mosaics, etc. would go in the "Illustrations->Traditional" gallery.
Stuff like leatherwork, jewelry, beads, glasswork, etc... will usually go into the "Still Life" gallery or the "Macro" gallery if it is a close-up shot. Objects like quilts can go into the "Textures" gallery.
I wasn't thinking of the resolution etc. I was thinking of people such as Ann(Morwyn) who does bead work, and some who might really enjoy seeing it "displayed" and giving that person a chance to show their own creative side. They would lay it out and make a artpiece out of it by taking its photo. Glasswork, yes I've seen that, I've also seen the work by Nathans daughter. I've seen simple little pencil drawings on lined paper, and it was great to see those talents. And there are many who do different art, I for one, would love to be able to really see it. If it fits in Illustrations thats fine. When I've posted some of my own drawings and paintings I am never sure where is the best place to put them. I guess I would love to see a Art Gallery 'per se'..........so everyone know exactly taht their creations have that ONE place to go to.
