Hello fotobob
You commented that you got the best coffee ever at a certain chain of coffee shops in Canada.
Now I am so sorry you never tasted the real stuff.
I know/knew the buyer of coffee there.
With that in mind I cannot share your enthusiasm, and in fact I boycott the place for the same reason.
Curmudgeonly Canadian.
Well everyone has their own ideas of what makes a good cup of coffee. For "commercial" coffee I live for Peets, but the best coffee I've had is at a little shop here in Fresno called Avi Ano. You choose what bean to use, they grind it and brew it ... so you always have a FRESH FRESH FRESH cup of coffee...yummy!
What in the name of all that is holy do you mean? I'm in perfect health, and I've never been so sick to go to the doctor in 4 years..and 3 1/2 years perfect attendance..
what in the name of all that is holy do you mean hernoor? All morwyn is saying that she drank coffee when she was young and it didn't make her sick. Now kids don't generlly drink it because science has "proven" its not good for them and makes them sick. She didn't say you were sick.
You know, I agree with Ann. All these "reports" about coffee and kids. I've been drinking coffee since I was a wee thing. My dad would make me coffee milk. Half coffee, half milk, lots of sugar. That was my morning ritual, he'd wake me up, give me toast with cheese melted on it (or with peanut butter on it), a banana and my coffee milk. I cannot remember a time that I didn't have coffee in the morning. I tend to have it more on the black side these days, but I still start my morning with my toast and coffee!! My kids periodically have a sip or 2 off my coffee, and they are not spazzy kids or sick or anything like that. I think its just a matter of using common sense, as it is with everything...I mean you dont hand a kid a pot of coffee and say "here bub, chug it"...
Oh and for anyone interested...I actually took a course in coffee in college. If you love coffee and your local college offers a course...take it...it was so much fun, and I learned so much about coffee. So now I can officially call myself a coffee snob! :-)
lol I've been drinking coffee since I was young also...its like a tradition to have coffee after everything, during conversations...after dinner...for breakfast and well...I can be a coffeeholic @ times :D but I don't think it did anything to me
and if the college/university that i go to has that course..i'll make sure to take it :D
I was screwing around yesterday killing time, decided to whip out my espresso machine and dust off the cobwebs...anyway...try this:
double espresso made from mexican or peruvian beans
ghirardelli chocolate square (I used dark chocolate)
a squeeze of orange
mix it up until melted then add your milk and foam
top with some chocolate powder and an orange wedge
You know I can drive there in one day. And I know you can cook, so go to Mothers or Trader Joes and cook up some breakfast to go with that coffee and I am leaving now!!
*stands on the side of the road with thumb out ... and a reassuring smile, that says I am partly sane* ... oh, I hope, I hope ... *crosses fingers* ...
*starts ... shaving* ... ouch! ... hmm ... ouch! ... oh, that won't look good ...
On a lesser serious note ... this is probably an old trick or something, but, my mom and some of my aunts still put eggshells in with their coffee grounds when they go to brew up a batch. Me, I put a little salt in ... seems to cut the bitterness a bit.
Particularly, if you have been, ahem, a little busy at the helm of your keyboard on the site and forgot about the pot of coffee ... long, long after it has been 'cooking,' lol. Annnd ... you must have real cream.
Nutz ... another missed photo op. And something tells me the 'rule of thirds,' off center placement of subject matter et al would not have been a consideration. :P
Good save there Kim!!!!
I saw a bumper sticker once on a convertable...there was a cute bruenette driving...it said, I love going topless when I ride the ride...
