I'm new to the site and see subscriptions under the control panel. What do I do with them. I checked them off and thought there would be a question or responce but it went blank. I don't want to delete a question about my images.

Subscriptions, at least as far as I know, are limited to a couple of things:

Discussion Boards
Just as you have 'started' a discussion or offtopic thread here, each time that someone posts or writes a response, you are notified on your profile page. It is merely a notification. No further information is provided. You can 'subscribe' to a discussion as well, and again, if there was a new posting, you would receive notification.

You can then go to that particular discussion board thread and see what in fact has been 'posted,' as they say. 'Checking' or 'processing' these are innocous. Nothing gets deleted, you just stay current. Simple.

Images Posted by You
If you have an image up on the site, you are automatically 'subscribed' to it. So that each time another member posts a comment, you receive notification and can visit the image's page to see what was written, and possibly post a reply there and then. Or, do as Martha Stewart suggests and go to their profile page and write a thank you, or something appropriate.

Alternatively, you can 'PM' or private message someone ... or they, you. This is the only time where checking the process item button will delete the original message. I personally have kept all of my own PM's, as I understand that the site will eventually allow you to store these.

Hope that clears up some of the confusion for you. In fact, I will PM a copy of this to you, and you can see what happens on that side of the equation.

When you post an image or a forum thread you are automatically "subscribed" to that "discussion" ...

so .. these notices are just a quick way to be informed that somebody has responded to something you've contributed ... as a side note, you are NOT automatically subscribed to your "profile page" .. you should do that next time you are there .. just one of the little quirkisms of being a caedesian .. it's a right of passage ..

like in 2001 a space odyssy .. when MAN made it to the moon and uncovered the monolith buried there .. it sent a signal saying MAN had reached adulthood

or something

when you get a "subscription" notice .. (If you use Firefox as your browser) .. click on the notice and then "middle click" on the actual topic to open a new tab with the topic ..

then put a checkmark in the little circle dealie to say "I have read this" .. and click "process checked items" button to DELETE the notice

If you use Internet-Explorer .. then .. Shift Click the topic to open a new Browser Window with the topic .. (or does IE have a tabbed interface yet? .. I dunno)

PS .. you can "UNSUBSCRIBE" to any topic you are sub'd to by clicking the unsub me from this sub coz it's driving me crazy coming back here every ten minutes to read nonsense .. this is good for forum topics

;o) .. you'll see

PSS .. how many times should a person be expected to type "subscription" in one note?

For future reference .. a topic such as this would go in "Non Art Website Issues" ...

this forum is reserved for topics .. like ... "Do you think Britney Spears Has Talent?" .. but .. don't bother with that coz we all agree she does

LOL .. HAHAHA .. dude, you been PUNK'd

LOLOLOL.

"Uh ... er, uhm ... welcome to Caedes ... and allow me to introduce you to some of the inmates, I mean, members ... members ... "

Yeah, think the point of unsubscribing will be made in short order, lol.

Heyyyy!! But ... but ... yeah ... alright. My turn.

I could have sworn it was my turn last time ... and the time before that ... and ... and ... oh well, let's hope this six pack lasts a little longer. You are chipping in your share ... this time, right?

Annnnd no ... I am not playing caps with you, if you recall (as I don't, having lost horribly) the local constabulary was not impressed with our offer to 'spiff up the joint with some neat art stuff.'

*goes off to search the threads for another unsuspecti ... member ... member in need*
