It would be nice to have one that acts in place of the screensaver but with images from Caedes. I guess what i am looking for is a slideshow type of program that runs as a screensaver. Even somethig where you could pick a tune or two to go with it.
For a screensaver if you have Windows XP, you can have a "My Photos Slideshow". For all the pictures you have in a folder, it will just do a slideshow type of thing for your screensaver.
Seriously there are a lot of screensavers with a slideshow function, and I have seen some that also play sound/music files... try here http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=screensavers&tg=dl-20
Well, My desktop picture changes every 30 minutes or how-ever often I want it to,
no special programs or anything, it has been part of the Mac OS for several years.
I found a small, simple wallpaper changer, has 40 built in effects. It's actually about 6 years old, but it works perfectly. Scanned for viruses and back in 1998, there's wasn't much adware to worry about
For a wallpaper changer just buy a Mac. The new iMac are really nice and you can set it to automatically change your background every 30 minutes or whatever length of time you want. *under his breath* *ahhemtherejustthebestdarncomputersevertoobythewayahhem*
Yes sir... I just got my brand spanking new Powerbook G4 today... 1.33 GHz, 80 GB, 1 GB or RAM, 64 MB VRAM... most of all it has Panther, incomparably better than windows... omigosh it is not even funny. Awesome machine. Beautiful.
The only bad thing about switching from a PC to a Mac is the price of buying the software you have all over again, that by itself would run me probably more than 3 new Mac's
other than the operating system, i'm not seeing whats so great about macs anyway, most people when brag about macs compare it to windows, but I didnt buy my pc for windows there there are a dozen operating systems for pcs
with that being said, the screen saver winternight pointed out should fit your purposes, I'f I'm right the updated version of it even plays music! There is also a nifty little feature in windows called active desktop that allows you to use a webpage as a desktop, so if u know how to create a webpage that creates a slideshow, you could make that and use it as a desktop :)
Maybe you should look into "Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP"
I'm not a big fan of macs anymore. I bought my first and last Mac in the summer of '86, two years after I finished college. It was a Macintosh Plus, and by the fall of '88, I had burned the thing out. Ever since I have been a pc user.
I guess you would use virtual PC as a transitional thing (IE it solves Tbob's problem until all your old software is out of date, then you can get rid of it).
I am a windows user, is this a bad thing? I am aware that Microsoft has absolutely no foothold in the realm of pro audio, and that mostly applys to art as well, as far as I know. Maybe some day I will go Mac, when I buy my own computers and have actual use for them. To answer the question at hand, I would have to agree with Tracy in the first post. On my last PC, I had my desktop change every hour on the hour by itself, but with that hard disk only a fraction of the size of the one I have now, it filled up a lot of space with the images. I suggest Webshots as well.
Man people are so afraid of viruses lol. Well heres the thing:
- The 2 words Security and Microsoft, in the same sentence, is basically an oxymoronic statement. Microsoft makes horrible security. There ARE SOME VIRUSES that infect only Mac users, but they are rare because most of the general population use some type of IBM Compatible.
Apple/Mac are NOT necessarilly more secure, they are just different from Windows PC's
You don't have to worry about having a windows PC. It is VERY EASY to get rid of any virus if you have Windows XP contrary to popular belief.
And Noobguy, that emulating software is not actually a virus persay. It is more like a hoax and not meant to truely damage the PC, although it can confuse people. Just keep your anti-virus updated and actively running, and put on a firewall. you can find a VERY Powerful and FREE Firewall <A Href="http://www.zonelabs.com/">Here</A>
i never suggested virtual pc was a virus
suggested that emulating windows on a system where most of the people buying it are trying to get away from windows seems like defeating the purpose, or a bit redundant.
but I understand Sam's point ;)
agree that macs arent necessarily more secure, but there really is no point to putting time in to write a virus for a mac when so many people use windows.
