A Private Matter

I am writing this in response to several people making it their business to interefere with what ought to have been a discussion between myself and another member. I had asked for help, and came to believe I was not given adequate advice and was also being insulted through passive-aggressive wording. I said so and left it at that. Some time later, several people wrote to defend this member and began to write to me in a very derogatory manner-all the while complaining I had not been nice and appreciative to this member. Frankly, it was up to this man to speak for himself; seems to me, he left it to others who like to chew someone out, in the name of supporting another they like. I do not believe anyone here has the right to insult another...several have taken it upon themselves to do just that.......how hypocritical to write me that I should be nice and yet say the most vicious things they could think of to me. I actually think these same people believe I would allow them to continue toi tell me I am not bright enough to comprehend his instructions, in essence--be they vague or not.. Pretty nervy, as my IQ is likely much higher than their own---witness their use of language and sometimes god-awful imagery presented under the guise of good work. I do not deserve this and I will not tolerate it either. I do not appreciate others assuming they know all the facts and atttacking me..........had they known the facts, they would find their words inaccurate and quite biased. I sense a high-school mentality here: some are club members; some are not. How juvenile! Grow up!! I would expect people to act as adults here; apparently, that is not the case and is tolerated by the staff. For shame! Some of the people who wrote such nasty comments need to look in the mirror and stop attempting to sustain their membership in a fan club by supporting the member who has twice been condescending to me and pretentious. I would think that had they been written to in the same manner by this member, they would have not been appreciative either. No one likes to be written to as though they are not capable of following instructions, as though they are not smart enough. And yet, this member has intimated just this to me. Enough! So to all of you who jumped on the proverbial bandwagon, get a life and stop being "jerks"-one of you actually used this term, so do not feign shock. Some of you took offense at name-calling;some of you engagaed in the behavior which supposedly upset you.........starnge!

So that everyone else can judge the matter for themselves, this is what he's talking about.

If you have nothing better to do than instigate such drama with members who attempt to help you then you will be asked to leave. There are too many people who are thankful to receive any help for it to be wasted on you.

#1. I was not favouring one member.. I would have said exactly the same things whichever member that it was about..

#2. "The facts" what facts??.. the fact was you asked for help it was offered more than once.. even step by step (which you threw back in that members face..) it was also set out mathematically by Cat, these were not vague at all... and yes you still couldnt follow it to the point that you told everyone who was helping that it was wrong.... so that says a lot about IQ's doesnt it... (which by the way.. you have no idea of what my IQ is so dont assume you know)

#3. As for "god-awful" imagery which you so elegantly put it... is a matter of opinion... if you dont like it .. dont look at it.. it is the artists work and the reasons they made it that matters... a lot of people are just learning different styles and programes on here, and others are actually professionals in the photography and arts...

#4. Yes I called you a Jerk and will not retract that.. because you were acting like one.. im surprised you were upset with that word considering you were calling people smart asses, but i guess whats good for one isnt for another...

#5. This is a public discussion board.. whatever is posted on here is for all to see, which means that anyone can comment, whether its what you want to hear or not... people have their own opinions and if you have an open forum you have to take the good with the bad, especially if your the one instigating it..

You asked for help you got it not just by one person but by a few and you couldnt follow the directions.. I even suggested to unclick the ratio and manually type in 1600 width and 1200 height but apparently that didnt work either, which i find hard to believe because thats how i change the sizes all the time yes even photos.... but because of not understanding you got frustrated, and decided to take it out on the people who were trying to help you by explaining it in an easy format.. did you bother to look at the link i posted on that site? the tutorial that Sam posted?..

I agree with Caedes you seem to have nothing better to do than to instigate another dramatised thread to try and push the buttons to get a response... well sunshine your going to be very disappointed, because noone really cares what you think.. there are people on here who appreciate the time and help from others, good luck in the future, i would suggest getting a manual on the program that your using and read it.. maybe then you will understand how to resize as well as other little things in the program.. if not then you can give the author a call and tell him he's wrong too..

***oops i shouldnt have said that.. damn now im being patronising, abusive, agressive and god knows what else.. oh well thats life..

Yes, while I didn't want to "bandwagon" this thread last nite, let's talk for a moment about that "superiority" that you were so offended by shall we?

You don't think it's insulting to tell people they must like distorted images, that YOUR photos are too good for that, your IQ is "likely higher than theirs", and insult their artwork?

Rule #1 - on this site we support each other, we do not disparage each other's art.

Very few people were truly insulting to you until you had been quite offensive, and perhaps you should go reread and figure out what caused people to be offended by your comments. You did not even attempt to see if you had been offensive in your stance of moral superiority, and rather continued to blame & accuse everyone else of actions that were not occurring @ that moment. Take your own advice, and turn around the comments. If your comments had been directed @ you, how would u have felt about them?

And yes, I too would have defended any member that I saw in that situation. This is a public forum, and by posting the comments that you did here, you left it open for anyone to respond who chose to do so. There is no rule that says "Only the 2 members involved in a public dispute may participate" or "Bystanders should wait around until someone chooses to respond".

OUCH! I don't normally read these posts and would not butt in, but was at Rob's BarBQ post and saw names of people I like..

This is sad. I like all of you. Maybe out of all, I do know Andre most, as we have written several times in personal emails. Andre...you are a good and decent person....and I also think that of everybody here. I don't want to come off like a soap box preacher, I just hate seeing this dissention. The old cliche' about artists having the "Mad dispositions"....it is all sort of true. We all get a bit sensitive about our work...and sometimes we also are angry at ourselves and take it out on one another. In defense of Andre, I have to point out he has had many very severe hardships and griefs with an ill friend. I'm not making excuses nor am I saying anyone is more wrong or right than another. I am just saying that we all have good and bad days...and I hope everybody can maybe just hang a white flag of peace and go back to being terrific Caedesians! pleeeeease? I love you all! Terri

well im sorry Terri, but we all have bad days and have emotional personal things happening in our lives, but that does not give the right to say the things he did when all they were doing was trying to help with the question he asked.. it has nothing to do with being sensitive about our work... it was about the response to the help he was given.. anyway.. im finished with it.. i know a few who will be taking a few steps back from offering help, because this isnt the first time it has happend..

Thank you all who are my friends: PLEASE know that I do not expect you to comment on every work I do, and could not care less about votes. I only want you to tell me when you do like a work I do, and only need honesty. I realize we all get tight with time, so please know I do not want anyone feeling obligated to comment just coz they are on my "friend list"! Thanks!

Hi Terri, yes, all comments welcome, don't feel that you shouldn't comment because somebody doesn't agree, you can't ever really resolve something unless you talk about it.

I appreciate what you're saying, For me, if Andre was having a bad day, then the person who needs to say that and take responsibility for it is Andre. After that, I'd be more than happy to toss it in the "what a night!" bin, and go on from there.

Oh… please don't do that. Do not allow what any one member says affect you to that extent. There are so many supportive people here who would truly appreciate the opportunity to see what you've done (including me).
