There are many standards that various photographers will tell you that you need to go by, such as the on third lead of, framing, perspective, and the correct lens and of course shadow and contrast. But I also think that the photographer’s point of view and vision is the most important. You can be the most knowledgeable photographer in the world and still have poor judgment on angle and view. So I guess the real question would be is what do you think yourself makes a good photograph?
hmmmm, well (remembering i have very little knowledge of photography!), i think its a spur of the moment thing.... for me, if i am looking at something, i often just suddenly think "hmmm that would make an exellent photo!" and then snap away, often this produces the best photos for me....
As long as you enjoy it, others will follow. Scrap the rules!! Rules are meant to be broken!! And, who sez you can't make your own rules? The critics...you're your biggest critic!!
Do you really think that even the best photographer gets it in the first shot. Sorry but they dont they take photo after photo from many angles and exposures. I my self take the same image at least twice and in many cases like a sunset or nature sceans many . I some cases you can only get one chance like at a wedding so you better have your ducks in a row and know exactly what you are going to do.
I agree with &prismmagic, if you're wanting to go pro and do it for a living then knowledge is key. You said you're just starting out in photography, so that's why I said to enjoy & have fun. I'm a newbie too and just started shooting back in October and have tons to learn. I'm just trying to keep it simple and learn as I go. Caedes is a perfect place to learn and have fun. I also found when a subject happens, I also take multiple shots with different focal lengths and various settings.
i don't want to go pro or anything, i just enjoy it as a hobby, i agree with hottrockin's idea that i should just enjoy it and have a bit of fun! i'll give the multiple shots thing a go! :)
ok, heres basicly what ive learnt since ive started photography, DONT FOLLOW RULES, most of the best photos have been taken breaking many if not all the rules, have a look at what other photographers have done and see if you can use some of there ideas until you develop your own style.
