any suggestions on how i can calm down the blue tint i get in a lot of my photos?

In your camera you could try messing with the white balance. It sounds like it might be something alittle off there. If you grab a program like photoshop, or i have heard gimp which is free and compareable you may be able to change the hues, and or mess with the curves alittle bit.
Google has a free one that's easy to use. It's called Picasa2. I looked at your images and the color is off. Your using an HP camera which should give you good results. Do you have the camera set to auto white balance?
Shadows outdoors normally have a slight blue cast since the majority of the light in the shadow areas is from the blue sky and not the sun, but the blue cast in your images is more than normal.
You should definitely check the WB setting on your camera, and try to use auto if you're unsure how to set it. (this will probably not work well for snow shots, though... check to see if your cam has some 'scene' mode for snow)
