Will someone please comment on my pictures? I am new to this and am not sure what to do to improve. Also why is it I can only upload one image a day? Adn how do you think of good names for your pictures? Thanks...oOoxRubyxoOo
Nice pics Ruby...luv the dog, very pretty!! I'm at work now and my monitor here is very lacking so I'm not able to give a more detailed comment, but I'm sure others will stop by and critic them for you.
Also, paying members are allowed to upload 2 images a day, non-paying members only 1 image per day (or every 20 hours or something like that).
Coming up with a good name for a piece is sometimes as difficult as getting that one real good shot or render. Go with your gut...when you first see your image, what do you think or see. Have fun with it!!
Randy's right, I find naming a piece to be the hardest part of it ! As to why you can only upload one image a day, well you can upload 2 a day if you contribute money to the site, 9.00 dollars for 3 months, & become one of what is known as the Caedes Cadre. Then you too can have the double colon in front of your username & upload 2 images a day.
Basically, this is a smaller style site, kinda homey, and keeping the uploads down to a minimum per person helps keep it that way.
Plus the addition of personalities....well, like myself, for instance. *She says modestly*
Welcome to Caedes & I hope you have a Good Time here !
I'm not a fan of B+W, but I like the location of your images. I would prefer them in colors, though
Well, with naming my images, I generally write the mood/theme, basically what first comes to mind when I look at the image. I also name them after the focal point. I'm still at work on naming all my pictures on my computer (I have more than a thousand pics, and most are named)..
Oki...:) Doesn't sem like many people here like black and white. I do though and that's what most of my pictures are. You have to keep in mind winter in the northeast is pretty dull and boring so black and white is the best choice. Once spring and summer come around I will definitely be using color. Also I only have a five MP digital camera without all this technincal stuff you guys are talking (or thinking) about so my images will probably be "muddy" or "blurry". Thank you... :) :P
MP has little to do with the sharpness of the image. For example these shots from my gallery were taken with my old Ixus V, which is a 2.1 MP camera:
1 2 3
The only thing that your MP count really affects is your resolution, and pixelation levels, but 5 is certainly high enough to avoid that issue. As I mentioned in one of your pictures, blurriness is generally due to a combination low lighting levels and camera movement. The "muddiness" I referred to simply means that I don't think there is enough distinction between the light and dark areas in the photo, which is really essential in a black and white photo IMO. Remember, nobody expects you to become a pro overnight, but you wanted feedback so we provided information which we thought might be helpful. Try not to take it personally.
There are many people here that enjoy B/W, myself included. I especially approve of "Curious". Don't forget to use a tripod to steady your shots and keep shooting B/W:-)
Agree with Darryl - a well composed and contrasted mono shot will beat a colour photo hands down any day so keep plugging away at it replete with afore mentioned tripod :-)
Okay, well. Since I don't have a job, I can't get a tripod just yet. Come summer I will. I don't know how it will work though because, where I have been taking shots has very uneven terrain. I will also probly get my own camera. I'm using my mom's right now.
I'm working on finding diffrent subjects because all of my pictures are mostly landscape. I want to do people. I do have a really cute shot of my brother, but I can't put it up as I would get in trouble. :)
Additionally, if you search the tutorials and discussion boards on the site here, there is available some free image editing software.
Combining the camera that you currently have and familiarizing yourself with some of the tricks of the trade and software ... well then ... I look forward to your future works.
