Drafting / House plan applications

Someone I know is after an application which he can use to draw up plans for presentation to clients, usually for renovation or office fitout work. He doesn't need anything as advanced (or expensive) as, say, Autocad, but something which dimensions can be used in and which produces a reasonably "classy" looking end result. Does anyone know of an app, or perhaps a site or forum which might be helpful?

It is a Windows XP system. Thanks, that forum might be helpful if phils suggestion turns out to be unsuitable.
