voting?

Well I've just been noticing a few things about voting and the c-index. I'm not critising anything, but this does seem strange to me on the way people vote. For example, my image Risky? has a c-index of 40, while my image Crater Lake has a c-index of 82. Now personally, I think the risky image was better because it was more difficult to take, and just involved more skill. The Crater Lake image was hard to get wrong with scenery like that...so why would it be voted so highly?

Like I said, I am definitely NOT complaining or anything remotely like that, I'm just wondering why votes are like this. Is it because this is a desktop wallpaper site and things are voted for their ability to be wallpaper over their photographic quality?

From my personel point of view, Crater Lake was more esthetically pleasing to the eye. People probably looked at "Risky" & said " Hmmm, a bee on a thumb " & voted & looked at Crater Lake & thought " Gorgeous scenery ! I'm going back there next year & this time I WILL make time to see Aunt Ethel & Uncle Floyd" & voted. At least, that's my assumption.

I think the key words in your statement .. were .. "Now personally, I think"

You are bringing the baggage of the experience with you when you view your own images.. we, as outsiders don't have that ... and people don't factor in how difficult an image was to take .. just how much appeal it has

should I rate something higher if you climbed Mount Everest to get it if it is rather ho-hum compared to the shot of the dog catching a frisbee at the local park with the spot-on color and heartstring-tugging emotion

Haha, well difficulty isn't my only factor in deciding what's good and not...but yeah, you have a valid point.

Agree with Swirly Beanie Boy!!

The degree in "difficulty of shot" is an 11/10 on "Risky", but, all in all the other post is more pleasing and a better 'desktop wallpaper' all in all that is. That's mostly just me though, mostly.

Cat pictures ALWAYS get high votes, as there are MANY cat lovers here at Caedes...especially cat pictures of cats doing something stupid and un-cat-like...like falling.
