Actually in the 'Photography' permanent gallery, we find 9808 images with:
..............c-index >= 90:100 -> 229 photos
90:100 > c-index >= 80:100 -> 1280 photos
80:100 > c-index >= 70:100 -> 2397 photos
70:100 > c-index >= 60:100 -> 2508 photos
60:100 > c-index >= 50:100 -> 1804 photos
..............c-index < 50:100 -> 1590 photos
Some thoughts:
1) Like me, I hope you are very impressed by the very high quality of the images here.
2) We see a good c-index repartition. That means that the new voting system works generally fine.
3) If you sort the view by c-index and look by the end (low c-index), you can find some treasures which deserve a higher score... example 1, example 2
4) Please, don't forget the difficulty of the topic. It's easier to take a sunset than a macro or people. It is necessary to think about that when voting.

Congrats to all photographers !!! :-)

The galleries listed to the left are the "perm" galleries .. "photography", "abstract" .. etc

they are different from the "new images" gallery and don't contain the same items

The new score distribution certainly looks more equitable than it used to. Have you become a statistician Pierre? You do a good job of it.

What do all think of narrowing the Gallery further....almost 10,00 images is too much for a serious person to look through.would take weeks........perhaps the public could vote on say, 100.............ideas?? Prizes???

I was suggesting that there are so many photos that perhaps better to have a top 100 contest and that members vote(prize?)..........Pigeon wrote to remind me this is not a professional site and there many, many choices if one picks a category and that the moderators are being quite generous....i responded saying that is true and i still think a site of 250 at most would be a good idea as.there are just so many photos to look at.....would like to see the BEST-and a contest to choose them.this happens all the time on other sites.why not here? I do not have the time, honestly, to look through so many photos.and I think the sheer number kind of lessens the idea of what is best........I would not want anyone to feel left out.so.Voila! Your thoughts, please.......P.

In a way, the members have already done just that: through the c-index. Just go to a gallery and sort by c-index.

En realite, beaucoup d'images dans la gallerie <<New Images>> sont effacees..

J'utilise le <<Sort by c-index>> quand je regarde les images dans la galleries <<New Images>> et <<Permanent Images>>.

Noor: for a few months, we don't delete any images in the 'new image gallery'.
The images are:
- moved in the permanent galleries
or
- archived: they are only accessible by the personal gallery from each member

I'd heard of the Archives before, but I didn't see any specific gallery for them. But now I see.. Thanks for explaining it!
