Mind if I make a suggestion?
When answering your riddle question
I think that all should have to write
In rhyme! I hope this isn't trite...
But just for fun, I hope you will.
(Sorry, I don't have Becca's skill...)
Hey guys, are you still alive?
Otherwise,this topic won't survive!
Or do I have to do this by my own?
I don't know how to clone!
So let u're mind do a brainstorm
It works good, during a rainstorm!
Pardon please for the delay;
And good idea, Sam, by the way.
I have no other riddle ready;
But this one is about unsteady
Bilbo when he was in the cave
Solving riddles his skin to save.
Give me but a few minutes more
And I will point to a new door...
There really is no need to fear me
It is just bad publicity.
And though I am most often shown
As a traitor and alone
I really live in a pack
And honor I do not lack.
Lilac dreams on the catastrophic pillow
Dwindling branches from a metallic willow
Lively flakes mingle on a pastel canvas
Branches boast like gold and brass
The ground painted in utter silence
Drifting cumbersome and dense
And as we wind down on the road Our shadow's taller than our soul There walks a lady we all know Who shines bright light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold and if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last when all are one and one is all To be a rock and not to roll
"Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zeppelin
My first is in peace, but not in dove;
My second in heart, but not in love;
My third is in read, but not in book;
My last is in spy, but not in look.
Don't carry on about it - just have fun
There are no red "herrings" in this one.
How am I supposed to try
To guess at answers in a rhyme?
I write mainly in free verse.
You now turn me into reverse.
I think that Sam means part of a dead hare
But at me so lost you probably stare.
Let me try: peace is piece
Heart is hart
Read is red
Spy is . . . I do not know.
But a part of a bloody rabbit is all I can show.
Can you tell I am of morbid mind?
My sanity you will not find.
Now I think I'll end this rhyme.
I digress to infinite time.
--------"May the soul of the emperor rain mousetraps on your head forever." --Daniel Stephens * "Eagles may fly, but weasles don't get sucked into jet intakes." --Jonathan McDowell-------
i must try another time
my mother yells down the stairs
she has no patience for my rhyme
i have no more room for getting busted
she will kick me out of the house
and you'll get no more rhyme of mine
--------"May the soul of the emperor rain mousetraps on your head forever." --Daniel Stephens * "Eagles may fly, but weasles don't get sucked into jet intakes." --Jonathan McDowell-------
words i come up with when i take letters from the first
that do not exist in the last:
chap
ahas
pray
prep
prey
no other real words i found
i am not sure how to go on
none of these make any sense
but then i merely took a chance
have i gone astray again?
i'm up for trying yet again
--------"May the soul of the emperor rain mousetraps on your head forever." --Daniel Stephens * "Eagles may fly, but weasles don't get sucked into jet intakes." --Jonathan McDowell-------
It's carp! I got it!
It's the references to fish
That told me.
It escapes me
How I missed that one
I thought I'd done
Every possibility.
At last it's "carp" I see!
Took me long enough.
Do I get a prize for one this tough? ; )
--------"May the soul of the emperor rain mousetraps on your head forever." --Daniel Stephens * "Eagles may fly, but weasles don't get sucked into jet intakes." --Jonathan McDowell-------
My first is in labor, but not in work.
My second in idiot, but not in jerk.
My third is in clover, but not in flower;
My last is in minute, but not in hour.
Think carefully or you won't score at all...
We'll soon see if you're on the ball.
I think it has to do with sports
That seems to me the best report
But I'm not sure exactly what
I almost thought it a simple one
I'll get back to you on that
Right now I terribly miss my cat.
Trust me that I'll solve this one.
I won't give up; this is too much fun.
--------"May the soul of the emperor rain mousetraps on your head forever." --Daniel Stephens * "Eagles may fly, but weasles don't get sucked into jet intakes." --Jonathan McDowell-------
I am rather too lazy to write in rhyme
I find it so difficult to make the time
Is your answer 'love' (which is no score at all)
Or am I a million miles off of the ball?
"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." Bertrand Russell
My first is in point but not in line
My second in his but not in mine
My third is in stop but not in stun
My fourth in shoot but not in gun
My last is in more but not in less
caedes provides the best clues for this - guess!
That is Ok, my caedes friend,
for many read, (but no posts send.)
At least you had a try today,
but it can be done I have to say.
You need a little time, is all...
a pencil paper and some gall!
So think on it and maybe later
you'll outsmart this instigator!
My first is in truck but not in tip
My second is in park but not in peek
My third is in friend but not in foe
My fourth is in picnic but not in lunch
My last is in romance but not in nice
Now its your turn -
don't dissappoint,
A race to the finish
and winner annoint! (Don't freak out - it had to rhyme!)
Now listen up here everyone,
We are have ing too much fun!
Mythica, that one was hard
You are as peotic as a bard...
(Unlike myself, whose poems stink...)
But I -have- worked it out... I think...
Maybe you can enlighten me;
Do I have the right frequency?
Listen here, I think I know,
I feel I have the answer - so,
If put mine with what you've got,
(we wouldn't really have a lot)
but what we'd have would be alright
- we could upload to caedes' site!
Would that make Marconi happy,
His idea loud as life - (and snappy?)
post another rhyme,
don't waste my time.
i'm way off track
but don't be slack.
have some fun
but don't be dumb
or youll find youve broken your thumb(hehehe)
To answer these riddles for those who can't guess,
The words that were hidden I'll have to confess.
The first (a good one for this site) was photo
The next sounded better: its name - "radio"
My first is in punch, but not in hit
My second in spasm, but not in fit;
My third is in little, but not in small
My fourth in paddle, but not in oar.
My fifth is in error, but not in wrong
My last is in stetched, but not in long.
Solve this riddle and you may find
A way to leave your troubles behind...
Don't take to long, though, or you may
Not get anything else done today.
architects, designers too,
would like your riddle...as do you.
artists, students, surfers all
gaze into this crystal ball.
This gentle chiding I must make,
as solving did but moments take.
Now dear friend,
I have for you,
A new type of riddle,
and here’s your clue,
as before,
the words you find,
it takes some thought,
now use your mind!
When word one, and two
you find,
that’s not all!
these words combine!
The letters are in order not,
you must find the third
hot shot!
word one…
My first is in pixel, but not in paste.
My second is in apple, but not in cider.
My third is in crop, but not in circle.
My fourth is in heater, but not in warmth.
My fifth is in love, but not in hate.
Now for the second word…
My first is in woman, but not in man.
My second is in cradle, but not in cot.
My third is in sherpa, but not in guide.
My fourth is in slipper, but not in glass.
So that is all you get for now,
Don’t spoil the fun
and print the answer!
Just drop a clue
when you know how!
I think I've worked the answer out
If not, be sure to give me a shout
The first word I think you may find on the breast
Of a suit or a coat, when you're smartly dressed
The second could be what you do to a gift
(or alternatively what Kirk might do with his ship)
These words mixed together will give us the the answer:
You hang it on the wall and hope it doesn't peel after!
"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." Bertrand Russell
Its so much fun to read such verse,
I'm almost tempted to do worse.
The groans and gasps such rhymes evoke
make Shakespeare seem a tawdry bloke.
Although no riddle now have I
I couldn't help (as I passed by)
to share amusment at your work
keep posting - yep - just go beserk!
A thousand eyes with which I see
A million ears posessed by me
I give you life, and when you're gone
My life shall continue on.
Come on now and don't be shy
Take a stab. Guess. Who am I?
I think that Mythica has thought
about a name that you know nowt.
In ancient times the name of Gaia
was revered... a globe... "provider"
So Samatar please help us out,
Is the answer "round" and "stout"?
The next riddle here be told
The answer be not found in gold
Nor silver, nor jewel, nor pretty thing
And no, it will not be a ring.
But all these things the answer has
A worm it is also known as.
The answer, too, is old and olde.
But easy 'twould be for a dwarf to unfold
For they were attacked by one of these
That flew over the mountain and burned the trees.
Ahh, I thought no one could
Guess what they would
Find the answer lost -
A wyvern was tossed.
It is time for something new
And to see the sky so blue
To see the beauty of the flowers
And get lost in all God's powers.
To guess the answer needs no whiz
Can you say what it is?
My first is in BALL, but not in GAME,
my second in INJURE though never in MAIM.
My third's found at EASTER but not in an EGG,
my fourth likes to CATCH but does not like to PEG.
My last is at HOME but not any MORE,
...my name is a pleasure us Aussies adore.
{Well Sam, you are right, keep your answer at bay,
("We breed 'em smart Down Under", I say!)
Those antipodeans that read what Sam "writ",
please keep your responses off-line for a bit!
I'm hoping that someone from off over-seas
Can give a swell answer! So "pretty please",
I don't want this posting flooded with clues,
Then the enjoyment of solving they'll lose.}
Northerners all come out of your shell,
cast your mind south to Australia as well.
Look at the riddle, and then you'll begin
to find that the answer will slowly sink in.
I've read this riddle three times now,
and I seem set to "have a cow".
I can't think straight late at night,
So I'll be back when it is light.
In the meantime if it's done,
I hope you make another one!
I've played with every word I know,
to do with coasts and ebb and flow.
I've thought of sewing, stitch and thread,
As I lay tossing in my bed.
Sleep didn't stop my deep confusion,
so I have come to this conclusion...
The answer in the spelling might
be where I'll find the answer, - Right?
I thought I'd take another look,
and your advice I calmly took.
I surfed round caedes, being nice,
comments, votes and in a trice
I knew that one more visitation
would lead to further inspiration.
So back I came to read your clues
and swiftly swept away my blues.
The answer now I have pinned down,
I wear a smile and not a frown!
I believe in the sun even though it is slow in rising. I believe in you without realizing. I believe in rain though there are no clouds in the sky. I believe in truth even though people lie. I believe in peace though sometimes I am violent. I believe in God even though he is silent.

Solving riddles in the dark.
But a feeling uncomfortable:
Am I the one that's lunchable?
(I will post another soon
Think of one... about the moon?)
