Is it just me or is my avatar messed up on my profile? I don't know why it works here if not there. I tried re-uploading it, but to no avail. What can I do to normalize or restore it?

It looks fine here, but did you check my profile? I am getting a scruntched message that reads "The image that was supposed to be here is from caedes.net" and also "The Chihuahuas Are Coming To Get You". You know I wouldn't make that up.
Bizarre. If I take a screen shot, can I email it to the rest of you to prove that I'm not lying?
For the record, it is not a tennis shoe. Please. :-) As for the ship, I get that a lot. To me, it looks nothing but the Sprint Logo that was the original image. I was taking long exposures at night without a tripod to see what I could make. I cloned a little bit (just today, mind you, not months ago) to make the black even, but those streaks are as real as it gets.
"The Chihuahuas Are Coming To Get You"????? You need a long rest, my friend...
Seriously though, it sounds like a message that would come up if someone tried to link directly to caedes (hence "The image that was supposed to be here is from caedes.net") I know Geri put measures in place to prevent this as it eats up bandwidth and I presume he made this pseudo-threat appear on any page where someone tried to link directly to a caedes image from another site. Why you are getting it one your profile page is a mystery though... it sound like the site is confused and thinks you are trying to link to your own avatar image (stored on caedes ) from another sitte??? I don't know enough about this technical stuff...
Samatar is correct about what is going on. I'll just add that in this case it is being caused by your browser not sending the correct HTTP_REFERER value when it requests the image. I'm not sure why it would do this though. Is there anything different that you are doing when you go to your profile page?
Yes, I was trying to link from it. Fred Miranda only allows us to use avatars from the web somewhere and I have no storage space to temporarily store it. It is a one-time link just to save the image, not a frequent thing. I completely understand why I would get the image on that side of the link, but not here. I am at school now, and my profile looks fine from here, but it may be messed up again when I get home. If it is, I will just ignore it. I am, after all, the only one who can see it. :-)
When you linked to it from outside, your browser got the chihuahua image. The next time it saw that you wanted the image it didn't request it again because it assumed that it was still the chihuahua image. It got the image from its cache instead. You can clear out your cache to get rid of it and force the browser to request the real image.
