the other day i uploaded an image which is a real favorite of mine and it did very poorly in the c-score department. i was wondering how i might make it better and then perhaps resubmit it. the image is "lionfish". thanks for your opinions and advice. jen

you can gauge your success better from the amount of comments that you receive than by the c-score .. comments take time and effort (if they're original) .. and the persons name is attached to the comment .. votes are anonymous

as for yellow iris .. if I had to nitpick I would say it's a half a stop over exposed .. ;o) .. and possibly due to its being centered ... but .. there are some here that have expressed a weariness of flower shots .. but don't let that stop you from posting them, just factor it into your score. ...

have you ever looked into a polarizing filter? .. I think autofocus digitals need a circular polarizer .. back in my film days I was enamoured with mine .. basically they act like venetian blinds and only allow reflected glare to enter the lens from one angle .. because the reflected glare is reduced colors come thru more saturated

The lionfish could probably do with a little sharpening, and perhaps removing the tank scratches would help... overall I agree that it probably deserved a higher rating, but 60 is an above average rating, so is not really "very poor" IMO...

I just browsed through your gallery and you have some great photos in there (Sunrise Silhouette, The River At Dawn, just to name a couple). As for the Lionfish, as Samatar said, I would clean up the scratches and sharpen the edges of the fish a bit. It might help if the colors were a bit more saturated too.

Every morning I will rest my arms a while upon the windowsill of heaven, gaze upon God, and with that vision in my heart turn strong to meet my day.
