I find the photography of Steve Parish rather inspiring... namely because he lives in a beautiful location and makes money by photographing it... who wouldn't aspire to such a lifestyle? Anyway here is the website if you want to check out some of his stuff: Christianfletcher.com.au
I also enjoy the work of Steve Parish, another Austrlian nature/landscape photographer.
Well it is a beautiful area... my parents are fortunate to live down that way, I have a few pics in my gallery of that area (though I don't consider them to be on the same level as Mr Parish) :-)
The first time I saw this site...and realized that they were all created by you guys...actual people that I kind of know...that made me want to create the wonderful works of art that you guys produce...
My inspiration is much less spectacular. I was sitting by a campfire and said to myself I wonder if i could create somthing like that in photoshop? Prior to this incident I had just used it to create professional graphic effects on webpages.
All I know is that I was given a little red Bell & Howell box camera with 2-¼ B&W film and I fell in love. Something about B&W prints that just holds me even to now. Something But as Far as images. Landscapes and People mostly their faces rugged face with ware and caricature in them, people who have a story in their eyes. As far as photographers I look up to. Pallor for landscapes, Jack Delano, Dorthea Lange and Walker Evens. For their urban and rural images of people in every day life and at work and in their struggles.
My dad loved to take photos. He gave me his old box-brownie camera - I used it in year 7 in 1974 to photograph my friends. ( I may have been the only kid at high school doing that instead of sunbaking or discussing pop songs at lunchtime) He also once gave me his old camera - the lens opened out with a cloth concertina-d between the lens and the rigid camera body. No idea what it was called. Now I'm going to go find those first photos to take with me to a 30 yr reunion this weekend! I am I glad I read this thread - I'd forgotten all about them!
oops - I misread the thread - first photo - of myself taken by my dad, age 3, looking neat in a dress and carfully combed hair. As I never looked like that, it was my first awareness that you could manipulate how images came out .. and I'm still into that!
with the right camera and program, everyone can look perfect. but then when you met them, the truth comes out......they never told the truth...................
