If you stay quiet for a bit the ascii characters on the screen take the shape of a little girl holding a teddybear .. but as you start to talk to her, she runs
I've been there too.. luckily did not see the teddy girl.. mind you.. didn't see anyone else but me.. :) will try again tho.. maybe i can keep her company .. :)
Oopsie here if I am creating more work for someone, as I am sure we all have things ... more than enough ... to occupy our time.
Having said that, I was under the impression that an attempt was being made by the administrators to organize a time table, schedule.
I really think that this next step could go a long way in alleviating some of the pressure on the servers, as I know I have used PMs as a pseudo chat system at time. Let alone ... ahem, my bad here ... some of the discussion threads.
Hope it gets off and running. I have tried a few times to be greeted by an empty room, and consequently not returned ... really not giving much thought to it anymore.
An assigned moderator and scheduled events would help, I think. "Open Chat," "Talk to the Artist" (I believe I have made mention of this before ... I still like the idea and am aware of the time constraints) and so forth.
'K, just some thoughts and in particular, I really like Keiths' suggestion of having some sort of notification of when someone is there and not just the 'ghost.'
well.. aside from the ghost, i am probably the only one to regularly frequent the channel.. mainly because i have been using the mIRC client for a while.. im there most of the time.. tho not always "awake"..
What about using something like peekko to chat on Caedes? I haven't used it yet, but from the looks of it, every page on Caedes you would be able to chat with people on that page. Peekko is another extension to the Firefox browser so you don't have to have an irc client running. Plus it tells you how many people are chatting.
Chip, now that ... would be interesting ... wonder if it could in fact be incorporated?
Heyyyy ... wait a minute ... you need Firefox to run this? I knew it, another Firefox thumper in the wings trying to exert undue influence on the IE masses.
Hmm, ok ... I switch. That was easy wasn't it?
p.s. I particularly like the first few lines of chat used in the example on the 'Quickstart' page, lol. Not that that would happen with the kindler, gentler Caedesian membership. :o)
or you could just use Skype, MSN, Yahoo, AOL, iChat or any other readily available messenger services that supports multiple participant conversations.
I'm available on Yahoo (my spades friends made me sign up for it), AIM (my cousins made me sign up for it), Skype (my grandfather made me sign up for it, but is never ON), and I never turn ICQ on anymore.
The problem with using those programs for chatting purposes is that it requires you to be invited to a chat rather than just popping into a room where people you might want to chat with may be congregating.
I'll be in the chatroom here around 2pm EST tomorrow if anybody wants to come hang out… *pathetic look* please don't leave me alone w/the teddy girl!
The reason I suggested Peekko was that you don't have to leave your favorite web site (or the browser) to chat and you can meet at any page and talk about Keifer!! Or you can talk about an image on that page, but talking about Keifer is much more fun. You can talk to anyone with Peekko without having to know their IM address. It just seems a lot more practical.
Go here and suggest it on the developer's site. :o)
You certainly have the collective attention of the admins there, and you get bonus points for doing so. Something like Air Miles, but, nothing like Air Miles. :oP
